Snoop Dogg is headed to prime time. A few weeks back, XXL reported that the West Coast rap star planned to star in a new, scripted family sitcom, and now, according to deadline.com, NBC has bought the series.

Snoop will play the father on the show, which will be written by TV veteran Don Reo (Two and A Half Men, Everybody Hates Chris). Reo will also executive produce the unnamed series, with the Doggfather and Ted Chung signed on as the proper producers.

In related news, Snoop was also recently cast in the lead role of the forthcoming biopic of notorious San Francisco pimp, The Legend of Fillmore Slim.

As of press time neither project has a release date. —Elan Mancini
