Drake Ties Diddy for Most No. 1 Rap Songs

With his highly anticipated sophomore LP, Take Care, set to hit shelves in a couple weeks on his birthday, October 24, Drake made “Headlines” this week as he ties Diddy’s Billboard record for most number one rap songs.

Since debuting on the charts with the 15-week No. 1 single “Best I Ever Had” in 2009, the Young Money star has appeared on 10 number one singles on Billboard’s Rap Songs chart. According to Billboard, Drizzy earned his 10th No. 1 record this week chart as his current single, “Headlines” rose from 2 to 1.

The feat matches Puff’s record No. 1 sum on the rap charts, which spans from Lil Kim’s 1996 single “No Time” to 2003’s Nelly and Murphy Lee collabo “Shake Ya Tailfeather.”

As of press time, Drake’s two featured singles, DJ Khaled’s “I’m On One” and Lil Wayne’s “She Will”, stand at No. 2 and 3 respectively on the Billboard Rap Songs chart. —Ralph Bristout

^^^Your shit is garbage so no thanks!!

Diddy had waaay more competiton back then. Also hip hop was not the undisputed number one music of choice back then either.

Props to Drake for making his dreams a reality and having success but those factors cannot be ignored.

More facts were that back then, it was easier to sell records because the “napster age” with music being more accessible online wasn’t established, yet, so it was easier to sell records w/ average music. So, if people are paying to get what they can get for free, today, you have something. Diddy couldn’t do what he did THEN today.

You don’t gotta like him or respect his music BuT give dude credit for making them hits. If you are an artist or just a fan of hip hop or if u are just a dude trying to get to the final level of gears of war u know its tough doing the same thing over and over.

If u actually listen to drake (and i’m not a drake head) dude has talent. His earlier stuff is more backpack underground ish. Even in his radio hits u’ll hear and see some of that same style.

People get hate on him because his flow the same But that should actually be a compliment because he mastered his flow and created a new lane.

People hate on him being an emotional rapper…let dude be! Its music its hip hop. people get on him for singing but then praise 50 who sings more than any rapper.

Point is u can’t please every fan of hip hop thas why its such a great thing to have options. However, don’t deny another man’s talents.

Straight up braahhhh!! If u listen to the song “It’s Good” by Lil Wayne ft. Jadakiss and Drake, found in Lil Wayne’s new CD Tha Carter IV, Drake talks about being real and wannabees just trying to make it big. He goes real hard!! :)

  • Hip-HopStillAlive_Recognize

Props goes to Drake! YEAAAHHHH! 10 singles! That’s an honor to go celebrate w/ the YoungMoneyEntertainment. Even tho I didnt really listen much to Diddy, Diddy does go hard at what he does. No lie! I respect Drake, Imma die hard fan of Drake. He definitly fits in my Top 5 fave artists of all time. I’m SOOO SIKED w/ his new album coming out, Take Care! I enjoyed his last CD soooo much! Cant wait to see what he’ll do this time! Drake is real! He is emotional when it comes to his songs, but rather that than nonsense u hear now a days. Whatever he feels in his music he’ll put it down. It’s only garbage if you dont have any meaning in ur songs, (Some of what im saying are replys to some of the comments I read) But yeah.. other than that, Congratz Drake! U deserve it! Keep it up!(:

  • Love to Hate

Drake is the “Trendy” MC right now. Diddy is still doing it and his number 1 streak lasted 7 years from 1996 to 2003. In 2016 no one will give a D@#$ about drake He!! maybe even in the next year or so.

And at least 5 of Diddy’s joints are classics. I see maybe 1 from Drakes list that could be considered that.

  • Heygurl

But look at the actual songs…

    There’s no comparison.

  • josh

    Just noticed something,

Notice how Diddy doesn’t have one song ont hat list by himself? It’s pretty easy to be on a number 1 single if Biggie or Ma$e is ont he track..

    Still sick though.
