Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV Projected to Sell 700-850K in First-Week

Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV album certainly looks like it will live up to all the hype.

According to Billboard.biz, Tha Carter IV is projected to sell anywhere from 700,000 to 850,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, September 4th. If those numbers come to fruition, the album would have the second-biggest sales week of the year behind Lady Gaga’s Born This Way, which moved 1.11 million during in its debut week back in May.

Mack Maine wasn’t too concerned about Tha Carter IV’s first-week numbers in an interview with XXL a few days ago. The Young Money underboss was more concerned with Weezy’s end game with the album.

“With Wayne, I don’t want him to sell a million the first-week, [and] then drop to 100,000 the next week then 50,00 the following week,” Maine explained. “I’d rather sell ten times platinum total.”
So far, so good. —Mark Lelinwalla

i actually want it to sell more than recovery, least wayne ddnt sell out, hes always talked about nothing over banging beats, i love to see wayne come out on top since all the irratating morons hate on him so much.

    • blank

recovery IS a fucking classic man almost all the songs are heat, i heard wayne shit and only like 2 or 3 songs any good

    • Alan

We don’t hate him…he’s just “OK” as a rapper. I’m speaking for myself…he’s not a “Great” rapper…this album has too much metaphors…noting more….just average metaphors. but to each his own.

  • mark

i call bs on these numbers

    • Alan

I agree…I don’t think he’ll sell that much. I’ve heard the album and say to myself “This album is full of metaphors….and that’s about it.” Just shows that record sells aren’t always based on talent.

  • mB

whats ‘bs’ is the review that XXL gave this album compared to Currencys tape and RED Album. Waynes album has no substance whatsoever.

  • zayzkidd

Looks like Lil Wayne still on top of the pop game. Get ya money lil brotha…

  • Tunchis Back

I’m happy to hear this news…Honestly I think this Album is Dope as F*ck and I’ve been waiting for it everysince Tha Carter III….After hearing all of the negative reviews and comments posted about the album I was a little afraid that it would be a huge dissapointment but as soon as I popped that disc in yesterday I knew I would not be dissapointed…..Wayne is the best at what he do…Hands Down….and for all them muthaf*ckas that wanna clown saying im D*ckridin……it aint even like that but #’s dont lie……YMCMB alll DAY…aint no one f*ckin with that…..#C4

You are right! Fu*kin thread riders just want to hate! Wanne IS the man! Not one word goes on paper… off the dome! Lets see the haters do that! Tha Carter IV is just as or better then any commercial album he has put out! I gotta say that i love ALL his mix tape work tho… Raw Wayne is whats up!

    I’m back haters…..

I heard this album. And my opinion is……

Lil Wayne is selling this album off of the strength of his previous release. This album is SERIOUSLY sub-par.

I don’t hate on Weezy for getting his paper. But from an artistic standpoint, his lyrics and the production was better on “2″.

But it’s excellent marketing on “Baby’s” part. They know how to sell a Lil Wayne album over there.

But for me….. I wouldn’t buy this album for any person. Hated or not.

fuck lil gay and his wack fake blood ass, i can’t believe some niggas compare this homo illuminati bitch to 2pac.

  • bullets

People dont hate lil wayne people hate his fans its just irritating when you hear some mediocre line and some idiot next to you is falling out his seat like jesus just spoke to him but honestly this LP is maaad mediocre for the so called “greatest rapper alive” a quote he stole from jayz by the way lol shit sounds like a mixtape with featrures..

  • Curtis

People say that he has no talent cuz they wish they were in his position and that is called HATING!!!!

    • JugularKill

@Curtis I don’t think that’s what they’re saying he’s not talented. It’s more likely because he’s talking about nothing most of the time.

Nothing important, nothing new. Like most rappers he has no story to tell because his caught up with the hype.

      @All
BTW XXL are some retards billboard.biz is some random website has nothing to do with billboard.com.

See life is all about false hype, no substance that’s why niggaz ain’t feeling lil wayne “aka blood” in his zebra leggings.

  • SOUTHREALRAP

yall east coast niggas just made cause jay and yezzy shit garbage and cant sell pinp c told u muthafuckas QUIT HATIN THA SOUTH then u nigga try to sound like us FUCK UP NORTH

  • D

agree with Bullets….it’s his fans, similar to Eminems ‘stans’ that make you not wanna like the dude even if he rhymes like Nas. But besides that, dude does spit 80% jibberish. If you feature him w/real MC’s (Outkast “Hollywood Divorce” QTip’s “The Rennaissance” rmx with Rae, and Busta for example) he’s forced to step his game up. Other than that his lyrics are butt! NOT the ‘best rapper alive’. Maybe the most popular.

nobodys fuckin with cash money?? ill take strange music anyday the may not be all pop and. at the vma’s but the production on all their albums is flawless. plus brotha lynch will eat lil waynes brains for supper. strange music bitch, the last time i heard production like that suge was runnin shit

Wait so your telling me that “sub par”, “wack”, “no substance” Wayne is about to outsell the closeted homosexual and his geriatric, washed up 4 albums ago, having his first child at age 46 (<-I know Stans) rap partner? Hahaha, suckers.

Those are Billboards projections, i'd trust those numbers more than Hits Devil day or what ever the fuck that website is, although in their defense they usually are pretty close.

Get mad bitches. Real mad…. start saying that Bird Man bought the copies….

    Next up to flop J-Cole!

Baby was spotted @ his local Wal Mart buying 690,000 copies of C4. They haven’t seen these # since PFriday

  • bamerican

Everyone is so obsessed with first week sales and putting up big numbers. Congrats to Wayne for being successful, but big sales don’t equal quality product. Shit, Nelly sold more copies of his generic pop-rap than Wayne will ever sell, but numbers don’t lie, so he must be one of the best to ever do it, right? That’s the logic of a brain-washed, corporate whore that doesn’t know how to think for themselves. (RZA voice) That shit is fuckin’ ridiculish.

I FUCKS WIT WAYNE BUT THAT NIGGA HAD ON SOME BABY TIGHTS LOL!! BUT C4 GO SUPER ILL THO….ALBUM OF THE YEAR

  • http://www.po.gov.za Tshilidzi

*all this dude needs is sum substance on his topics like he did on “tie my hands”
*still needs a classic under his belt…..

  • Kyra Esposito

Lil Wayne the best!!! So is 2PAC and the others, but lil wayne is THE KING OF HIP-HOP/ RAP!!!!
