Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV album certainly looks like it will live up to all the hype.

According to Billboard.biz, Tha Carter IV is projected to sell anywhere from 700,000 to 850,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, September 4th. If those numbers come to fruition, the album would have the second-biggest sales week of the year behind Lady Gaga’s Born This Way, which moved 1.11 million during in its debut week back in May.

Mack Maine wasn’t too concerned about Tha Carter IV’s first-week numbers in an interview with XXL a few days ago. The Young Money underboss was more concerned with Weezy’s end game with the album.

“With Wayne, I don’t want him to sell a million the first-week, [and] then drop to 100,000 the next week then 50,00 the following week,” Maine explained. “I’d rather sell ten times platinum total.”
So far, so good. —Mark Lelinwalla
