Jay-Z didn’t waste time responding to a New York Post story that said he and Kanye West weren’t speaking to each other due to disagreements about tour costs in support of their collaborative album, Watch the Throne.

Making an impromptu appearance on New York City’s Hot 97 dial, Hov addressed the situation live on the air.

“Yeah, we had a fight or something,” Hov sarcastically said to Hot 97’s Angie Martinez. “I kind of want to spend a gazillion dollars. I think they got it backwards, but it's all good. I made it [Laughs].”

All jokes aside, the Post’s allegations weren’t any laughing matter. The New York paper had a source claiming that West wants a flashy production in a show that would cost more than $400,000, while Jay preferred to keep costs down.

Jigga insists, though, that while he and Kanye disagree from time to time, it’s all creative tension. He also denied rumors of him actually hitting Kanye during the disagreement.

“Kanye is my brother,” Jay told Martinez. “Yes, we get on each other's nerves, but that's part of pushing each other. We push each other... the people who have a problem with Kanye or myself are complacent in life. They don't like to push. They don't want to be greater and we're pushing each other to be great. But that’s in the studio. I have so much respect for him, I wouldn't put my hands on him. Never, no way.”

Watch The Throne will be available on iTunes August 8.—Mark Lelinwalla
