Hype Williams is plotting a comeback to the big screen. According to Variety, the famed music video director has signed on to direct the new film based on a script by Joe Eszterhas, known for penning Showgirls and Basic Instinct.

This movie, titled Lust, focuses on a married 30-year-old woman, whose life is turned upside down, after a videotape of her cheating on her husband surfaces.

Williams is highly regarded for his work on some of hip-hop’s biggest music videos including a handful of clips for Kanye West, Busta Rhymes and Missy Elliott, among others. He has directed one other feature film in the past, the 1998 cult-classic, Belly.

"Williams offers a fresh look and interesting dimension to the erotic thriller genre," Scortt Steindorff, the head of the production company Stone Village Productions financing the film, told Variety.

The flick is set to begin filming in November. —Elan Mancini
