Ghostface Killah Sues Universal

Ghostface KIllah filed a lawsuit against Universal Music Group—the parent company of his label home, Def Jam Recordings—on Wednesday (August 10) alleging that he is owed money after a contract violation.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ghost says that Universal only owns a 25 percent stake of his work on Wu-Tang Clan projects, yet they have been taking 50 percent and he wants to collect on back payments he feels as if he is owed.

As of press time, neither party have commented on the suit.

This suit seems to come at an opportune time. As previously reported, GFK was recently sued by Jack Urbont, the Hollywood composer reposible for the “Iron Man Theme,” used by the Staten Island rapper on his 2000 album Supreme Clientele.

The case has already gone to court, and last Friday, lawyers for Ghost argued that the rapper is protected by the statute of limitations.
