Royce Da 5'9" and DJ Premier are far from strangers. The veteran producer has given Royce hits like “Boom” and “Hip Hop” over the course of their relationship, which spans back to about 10 years.

Well, XXL has learned that Preemo will be on the wheels of steel for the Detroit MC’s "Royce Da 5'9" & Friends" show at S.O.B.'s in New York City on Tuesday, August 9, celebrating his new album Success Is Certain, which drops on the same day. The LP will, of course, also feature a new song with the two reunited stars, called "Second Place."

Royce told XXL that he can’t wait for his first NYC show in years and the fact that Preemo will have his back only sweetens the deal.

“I pride myself in being a real nigga and I think that’s why me and Preem connected because he’s a real dude,” Royce said. “Of course, real niggas are going to stand beside real niggas and he’s always stood beside me no matter what because I’ve always been real with him. You could work with anybody, but we ended up being friends too.”

Success Is Certain hits stores after the success of Hell: The Sequel, the critically-acclaimed EP he recorded with his Bad Meets Evil collaborator and longtime friend Eminem. Royce says that after this album, his final independent work, he’ll be a free agent and it’s no surprise what label he’ll be leaning toward to – Shady Records.

“Obviously I have a loyalty toward Em and Paul [Rosenberg],” Royce commented. “I probably won’t talk to anyone else, before I talk to them first.”

Royce's Success is Certain, a follow-up to his 2004 LP, Death is Certain, hits stores Tuesday. Tickets for the star-studded show, which starts on Tuesday night at 9 p.m. EST., are currently on sale here. —Mark Lelinwalla
