Pimp C, The Cool Kids & MellowHype Debut on the Charts
Three new hip-hop albums from Pimp C, The Cool Kids and Odd Future offshoot, MellowHype, debuted on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart this week, but none of the acts’s discs managed to crack the Top 40.
Late UGK legend Pimp C’s posthumous album, Still Pimping, holds the highest spot of the new rap releases, sitting at No. 72 on the charts, selling 6,500 units, according to the Nielsen SoundScan report released today [July 20]. The Cool Kids follow closely behind at No. 76 with their release When Fish Ride Bicycles, which sold just short of 6,500 copies, trailed by the third new release at No. 81, MellowHype’s album BlackendWhite, which sold 6,200 copies.
Though there are no rap releases in the Top 10, Bad Meets Evil’s Hell: The Sequel sits at No. 11 after dropping 6 spots from last week’s No. 5. The Eminem and Royce Da 5’9” collaborative EP sold 30,100 copies this week, bringing the total to 341,500.

At No. 27 is Pitbull’s Planet Pit, which, in its fourth week, sold 14,600 copies, resulting in a total of 116,800. In it’s 34th week on the charts, Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday sits on the 31st spot with 12,600 copies sold, bringing the Young Money femme’s total to 1,485,800 albums sold, while XXL Freshman Wiz Khalifa rounds out the Top 40 at No. 38, with 10,300 copies sold this week of Rolling Papers pushing his album past Gold certification, with 505,500 albums sold.
