Last Friday (July 8), XXLMag.com broke the news that Gucci Mane was released from Fulton County jail in Georgia, after serving three months of a five month sentence for violating his parole. Well, it looks like Gooch didn’t waste any time getting back to work.
In an interview with KarmaloopTV, Gucci La Flare revealed that as soon as he became a free man, he went directly to the lab. “First thing I did, I just got my feet planted back on the ground, went back to the studio and banged out about five records,” the Atlanta rapper said. “I got some great writing done and I got some new hits that people need to wait on.”
Gucci was handcuffed and taken into custody on April 8, for violating his probation from a 2005 assault conviction. During that time he was also charged with pushing a woman out of a moving vehicle in an alleged incident that took place last January, He will return to court on August 19 to face that case.
But between now and then, Gucci is living up to his workhorse reputation. On July 5, three days before he was released from jail, he dropped his mixtape, Writing on the Walls 2. Meanwhile, Ferrari Boyz, his joint studio album with protégée Waka Flocka Flame, is set to come out August 9. —Henry Greenfield
