Basketball player Elton Brand has signed on to co-produce Tupac, the official biopic on late West Coast rap legend Tupac Shakur, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The Philadelphia 76ers forward has previous film experience, as he co-founded the production company Gibraltar Entertainment while playing for the Los Angeles Clippers.

As previously reported, Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, Brooklyn’s Finest) has already signed on to direct the film and is looking for an unknown actor to play the fallen hip-hop star. Fuqua, who got his start directing music videos, was approved as director by production company Morgan Creek. —Lauren Carter
