Cassidy was arrested in Hackensack, New Jersey on Saturday (May 14) for violating terms of his probation, but the rapper is not a suspect in a murder and two attempted murders in Philadelphia, as previously reported by several media outlets.

"In reference to the recent inquires regarding Barry Reese (aka Cassidy), on Saturday, May 14, 2011, Reese was arrested by Hackensack Police for a probation violation for a previous aggravated assault incident in Philadelphia," said the Philadelphia Police Department's public affairs office in a statement sent to XXLMag.com. "Reese was placed in probation violation status for non-reporting only. Reese is currently being held in Bergen County Prison awaiting extradition to Philadelphia. Reese is not wanted for any other crime / violation in Philadelphia."

Lt. Timothy Lloyd of the Hackensack Police previously said that the warrant was issued for violating probation, but that Reese is also a suspect in a murder and two attempted murders in Philadelphia, according to NorthJersey.com. Bergen County Prison hasn't returned phone calls to XXLMag.com as of press time.

Back in 2005, Cassidy was sentenced to 11-23 months in prison on a first-degree murder charge from a killing of a 22-year-old man in Philadelphia, but the charge was lessened to involuntary manslaughter.
