This is a reminder to interested aspiring rappers that XXLMag.com is featuring special judges this month: hip-hop tastemakers DJ Drama, Dru
Ha of Duck Down Music and senior VP of A&R at Island Def Jam
Recordings, Sha Money XL, who will be listening to freestyles submitted through “Ready or Not,” a special function of The XXL App.

As previously reported, the multi-function app, which has been downloaded over 100,000 times since it's release in the iTunes store less than three weeks ago, offers XXLMag.com’s hip-hop news, feature stories, lifestyle content, a special rap trivia game, GPS locator to find your friends, plus a special Twitter function. But the most exciting and unique feature of The XXL App is Ready or Not, a user-based voice recorder that allows up-and-coming talent to record a freestyle into their own iPod, iPhone or iPad, than upload their personal 30-second freestyle to XXLMag.com and get reviewed but the public and maybe even an industry heavyweight.

Each month XXLMag.com will feature special guest judges who will be listening to and rating a select amount of freestyles from the Ready or Not section on XXLMag.com, which features the freestyles.

“I listen for subject matter, flows and conviction with voice,” says Sha Money in reference to The XXL App. “This app will allow me direct access to artists really looking to be heard.”

So far aspiring MCs Steven Q the G.E.E.K., Bufflord and Class!c are just some of the spitters that scored the highest ratings from users. Fans can upload their own freestyles now by downloading The XXL App at the iTunes store here. —XXL Staff
