Employees at Flavor Flav’s new restaurant are fighting the power – or at least trying to make the power pay up – after checks from the fried chicken spot have allegedly bounced.

New York’s Daily News reports that several employees at Flavor’s Flav Chicken claim they received bad checks from the Clinton, Iowa-based restaurant.

Employees Kelly Butler and Kim Kostka told Iowa television station WQAD that they’re owed three weeks of pay after several banks turned down their paychecks due to insufficient funds.

"My check was only $150, and they couldn't even cash it," Butler told WQAD.

Restaurant owner Nick Cimino dismissed the claims as retaliation by employees who were terminated, but did admit the restaurant’s credit cards had recently experienced a “glitch.”

"Employees are going to say whatever they need to say, especially after you fire them," Cimino said.

Flav similarly waved away the allegations as false and possibly fueled by jealousy.

"It's not true information first of all, and second of all maybe these are people that's just jealous of me being here and probably want to see me out," said the former Public Enemy hype man and Flavor of Love star. “Yes, we do have money in our accounts.”

However, WQAD said that several other workers who declined to be named stated that their paychecks had also bounced. —Lauren Carter
