In only three days, the XXL iPhone App has already racked up over 10,000 downloads from the Apple iTunes Store.

Officially hitting the outlet earlier this week, the free application for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad users, has garnered excellent reviews by gizmodo.com, mashable.com and in the app store itself. In fact it is ranked No. 21 in the music category in the App Store.

The multi-function app offers XXLMag.com’s hip-hop news, feature stories, lifestyle content, a special rap trivia game, GPS locator to locate your friends, plus a special Twitter function.

But the most exciting and unique feature of the XXL App is Ready or Not, a user-based voice recorder that allows up-and-coming talent to record a freestyle into their own device, then upload their personal 30-second freestyle to XXLMag.com and get reviewed, rated and maybe even discovered.

Ready or Not will possibly revolutionize the way new artists get discovered. The feature allows XXLMag.com users to submit their verses and upload them to be published on the XXL site. Editors and industry brass will screen and review entries while XXL’s online community votes on the best performances. Everyone’s voice will be heard.

Thanks to Ready or Not, your iPhone now becomes your portable studio and a possible eventual ticket to rap stardom allowing industry heavyweights the opportunity to hear raw talent from across the globe. “I listen for subject matter, flows and conviction with voice,” says Sha Money XL, senior VP of A&R at Island Def Jam. “This app will allow me direct access to artists really looking to be heard.”

The XXL app will allow every hip-hop fan to access the entire culture from the palm of their hand. It’s hip-hop on a higher level, for real.
