Tyler, the Creator’s Goblin Coming May 10

As Odd Future generates more buzz as a unit, the faction’s leader, Tyler, the Creator, is hard at work on his first retail album, Goblin, which according to billboard.com, has been scheduled for a May 10 release.

The sophomore disc (following last year’s free LP, Bastard) will come out on XL Records and feature Tyler’s single “Yonkers.” The controversial music video for the song has already amassed more than three million YouTube views, including a visit from Kanye West, who expressed his love for the clip via his Twitter account.

The rapper/producer also released what is believed to be the cover artwork for the disc yesterday [see below] on the Web site, buffalo-bill.net, along with a sneak peak of one the album’s cuts.

Tyler and the entire Odd Future gang will be part of Billboard’s SXSW Hip-Hop Showcase at Buffalo Billiards (201 East 6th Street) in Austin, Texas on Saturday, alongside the likes of Curren$y, Big Sean, CyHi da Prynce and Big K.R.I.T., the latter of the two having made the cut in XXL’s fourth annual Freshmen issue.—Mark Lelinwalla
