Wale Signs to Maybach Music Group

Wale has a new “bawse.” The 2009 XXL Freshman confirmed over the weekend that he officially signed with Rick Ross’s Maybach Music Group.

As XXLMag.com reported back in December , Wale had been in talks to sign with the Rick Ross-led Maybach Music Group for several months.

“I’m blessed man, I’m blessed,” Wale said in a viral video of working with the Miami rapper [watch below]. “Same music, better energy, that’s all I gottta say. I’ll let the records talk for they self.”

The Washington, D.C. native took to his Twitter account to confirm that Roc Nation will continue to manage his career. “ ROCNATION still handles the business,” he wrote.”[T]he music won’t change the energy will! [M]aybach [M]usic.”

Wale recently appeared on Rozay’s Ashes to Ashes mixtape along with Meek Mill and Chester French. According to MTV News, a bidding war between Jay-Z, Diddy, Birdman and Lyor Cohen has already ensued for Ross’ Maybach Music imprint. —Nicole LoPresti

smfh I really wish Wale the best but I think its a bad move to sign to another rapper with zero executive muscle to push your shit.

Laughin my muthafuckin ass off at all the niggas signing deals with labels who have never released one muthafuckin album.

“I’m signed to Roc Nation, I’m signed to Maybach Music, I’m signed to Nappy Boy, I’m signed to…”

Get the fuck outta here. The rap music industry is a joke right now.

I feel you on that. All these rappers signing to these make believe labels. Roc Nation MAY put real albums out (mostly by Rihanna), but Nappy Boy and Maybach Music, that’s called mixtape central.

Am I the only one who sees this as being a covert reshuffle being done here?

Wale, Ross, Diddy & Birdman are all Universal. I haven’t forgot the rumors that Ross was moving to Interscope (Universal). Khaled, Def Jam South’s “president” is with Cash Money now.

And Rihanna is managed by Roc Nation, like Wale, but is Def Jam (Universal).
