Mack Maine “Overcome With Emotion” Over Lil Wayne’s Release
Today was a very joyous day for hip-hop fans everywhere as Lil Wayne was released from Rikers Island earlier this morning. No one seemed more excited than Young Money president Mack Maine.
“Like any family who is blessed enough to witness a loved one exit prison, the entire Cash Money/Young Money household has been overcome with emotions,” Maine said in a statement. “Watching my little brother walk out from behind those walls was more powerful than anything we have ever accomplished together because it meant we were officially a family again.”
“From the moment we found out Wayne would be going to Rikers, we prayed for this day would arrive as quickly as possible,” he continued. “It is finally here and words cannot properly describe the feeling in the air. Over the next few days, our only priority is making sure Wayne re adjusts to life outside of jail as smoothly as possible. He’ll be spending much needed quality time with his children and closest loved ones. From there, it is back to work and back to what we have been doing for years – making good music.”
“To the fans who have been a part of this process every step of the way, thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts, especially Wayne,” He added. “Your well-wishes and prayers have made this tough situation much easier to cope with and now we can all celebrate.”
As previously reported, the whole Young Money/Cash Money family will then be heading to Miami on Sunday to celebrate Weezy’s release. Going down on Sunday, November 7, there will be a party at an undisclosed location with expected guests including Drake, Birdman, Lil Twist and more. —Elan Mancini
