Even though he’s locked up and fans were not able to purchase his new CD in stores, Lil Wayne was still able to top the iTunes albums charts with his latest release, I Am Not A Human Being. And now his label is projecting that Weezy’s digital-only release will sell around 90,000 copies in its first week, according to Billboard.
Cash Money/Universal also expects the New Orleans-bred superstar to sell around another 225,000 copies when the physical disc hits retail shops on October 12, with two new bonus tracks.
I Am Not A Human Being features appearances from Wayne’s Young Money family like Drake (who appears on four tracks), Nicki Minaj, Jay Sean, Lil Twist and T-Streets. Production duties were handled Cool & Dre, Boi-1da, 40 and Streetrunner, among others.
Wayne—currently behind bars for a gun charge in New York’s Rikers Island—will be released on November 4, after entering jail last March. He was arrested in 2007 when a police officer boarded his tour bus, after smelling marijuana. Once inside the vehicle she caught the rapper with a .40 caliber handgun. —Elan Mancini
