Joell Ortiz constantly shows love to Brooklyn in his music, so it was only right that his home Borough reciprocated that love when he headlined the Famous Factory show this past Friday (September 24).

Held at the Public Assembly in Williamsburg, Ortiz headlined the show, which was brought together by Sickamore and XXL. The Slaughterhouse member ran through a wide range of his work, from tracks with his group like “Sound Off” to “Hip Hop” from his 2007 debut [Watch below] to music from his most recent EP release, Farewell Summer.

Before Joell graced the stage, a spitter half his age—15-year-old Diggy Simmons—rocked the crowd on the heels of his recent release, Airborne. The Atlantic Records signee came out to “Made You Look,” a remix to Nas’ 2002 single which helped the young wordsmith gain recognition. He later treated the crowd to “Great Expectations,” [Watch below] a bonus cut from Airborne which is also currently featured in Diggy’s AT&T commercial.

Performers earlier in the evening included Rugz D. Bewler, Che Grand, Smokess and Slim E.

The next Famous Factory show is set to go down towards the end of October. Stay tuned to XXLMag.com for details on the date, time and artists. —Adam Fleischer
