Kanye West won’t have to make travel plans to be in Miami next Thursday (August 26) to appear in court to face a lawsuit filed against him by Suge Knight.

The Associated Press is reporting that Ye was granted permission by a Miami Federal judge to be present at the hearing by phone, rather than in person. The case stems from a shooting incident at a 2005 party in Miami hosted by Kanye, during which Suge was shot in the leg. The former Death Row boss is now seeking $1 million in damages.

Last night, Kanye dropped the remix to his latest single, “Power,” featuring Jay-Z and Swizz Beatz. Listen here. —Adam Fleischer
