In his hit song, "Empire State of Mind," Jay-Z famously said that he made "the Yankee hat more famous than than a Yankee can."  While that comment was most likely said in jest, the hip-hop mogul ironically announced that he partnered with the baseball team to throw his logo on their famed cap, along with an assortment of their clothing items including t-shirts and hooded sweatshirts.

According to The Huffington Post, the gear will go on sale next week, exclusively at Yankee Stadium, and will only be available until September 14.

The partnership is in honor of Jay’s upcoming concert dates at the Bronx Bombers headquarters on September 13 and 14 with Eminem. As previously reported, Hov and Em will be headlining four dates with Slim Shady for their Home and Home tour next month. The other two concerts will take place at Detroit’s Comerica Park on September 3 and 4.

In related news, Jay is currently preparing to drop his first book, Decoded. The 336-page tome will feature interviews with the rap legend's loved ones, a memoir and detailed explanations behind some of his favorite songs. On November 15, one day before the book hits stores, the Brooklyn-bred lyricist will come to the New York Public Library to discuss Decoded. —Elan Mancini
