Los Angeles authorities finally threw the dog a bone. DMX was released from an L.A. jail yesterday (August 12), after serving merely 18 days of a three-month sentence for a 2002 reckless driving charge.

According to a press release, once free from behind bars, X immediately returned to the studio, where he is working with producer Cavi—whose resume includes tracks for T.I., Usher and Aaliyah.

Before turning himself in last month for the driving infraction, the Yonkers-bred MC was in the beginning stages of recording a comeback album. He has already laid down songs with longtime collaborator Swizz Beatz, T.I., Rick Ross and Sean Kingston. And just this morning he released a snippet of the untitled disc’s first single, “Time to Get Paid,” which features a Notorious B.I.G. sample on the hook. [Listen here]
