Diddy Featured on XXL’s Cover for the First Time Ever!

Diddy stalled hopping on his Last Train to Paris to spend a little time with XXL. The hip-hop mogul appears in XXL magazine’s upcoming June issue and it’s his very first time being featured on the publication’s cover.

In the comprehensive interview written by Thomas Golianopoulos, Puff gives insight into his ubersuccessful business mind, his new album, Last Train to Paris and he reflects on his grind to the top to become hip-hop’s number one mogul.

He also looks back at his overall impact on the industry and culture. “I am the champion of hip-hop” Diddy says in the story. “Hands down, undisputed, I’m the undisputed heavyweight champion of hip-hop. We are going to have to deal with those facts. There is nobody that can fuck with me with what I do, which is getting busy. We are going across the board, as an entrepreneur, innovator, motivator. Who was there first? Who traveled to Europe first? The first. The first. The first. The first. I was the first.”

In addition to the P. Diddy story, the June issue features an in-depth reported piece on the untimely death of rap legend Guru of Gang Starr. Speaking with family members, friends, his former group mate DJ Premier and close friend/business partner Solar, XXL tries to make sense of the beloved lyricist’s final days, while also exploring the mystery behind his last days.

The magazine also pays homage to the 20th anniversary to the making of Ice Cube’s classic solo debut, AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted and gives a detailed guide to hip-hop’s plethora of reality shows.

XXL’s June issue will be in stores nationwide on June 1, 2010. The May issue, which features Young Money artists Drake and Nicki Minaj, is on stands now. —XXL Staff

The internet makes a-holes of us all. If that post came with his name and address, you know son wouldn’t be popping off like he is. None of us would.

Thank you, XXL, for paying tribute to the legendary Guru by allowing his name to nest on the shoulder of hip hop purist, icon, and grill enthusiast Diddy. You guys are brimming with class.

Not only have I started using your magazine to swat flies and to beat my badass kids with, but last month’s issue really came in handy when I needed to flick the neighbor’s dog’s shit off my front lawn.

Yes,I agree that is VERY.VERY,VERY disrespectful to the man who started Biggie,Kim,and a WHOLE lot of rappers career but XXL wanna put whack ass SOUTHERN ARTIST WHO HAVE NO TALENT THAT’S WHY I BUY VIBE MAGAZINE BECAUSE XXL IS W H A C K.

Must be because of that monstrous hit single he’s got playing all over the radio. It’s at the top of the Billboard 200!

  • E-Hustle

WOW, this magazine has fallen the fuck off big time. It’s not that even Diddy’s corny ass is on the front, that’s just putting icing on the cake.
This mag has sucked for sometime and I have been a subscriber for atleast the last 3 years when the joint was like 9 or 10 issues for $10.00, now these desperate clowns are sending me re-subscription letters every other week asking for 20 something beans for 9 issues.
Dem fools smokin that shit or something.
XXL has lost it’s touch for awhile, even going back to when YN was in charge they started falling off.
I can see XXL being the next mag to get the AXE and end up getting bought out and relaunched like Vibe and King. And neither one of those mags are shit still.

  • To The —–>Day

Yes,I agree that is VERY.VERY,VERY disrespectful to the man who started Biggie,Kim,and a WHOLE lot of rappers career but XXL wanna put whack ass SOUTHERN ARTIST WHO HAVE NO TALENT THAT’S WHY I BUY VIBE MAGAZINE BECAUSE XXL IS W H A C K.THIS IS CRAZY BUT THEY PUT WHACK ARTIST LIKE DRAKE AND NICKI MINAJ ON THE COVER?WONDER WHY XXL WILL NEVER BE A BETTER MAGAZINE THAN VIBE OR HIP HOP WEEKLY.

Being able to do something first has to do with the time he was born

  • E-Hustle

@Lloyd Spray, you dumbass muvafucka! Do your research stupid ass. Eminem’s Not Afraid is #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles & Godsmack (a cracker band) is #1 on the Billboard 200 albums list.
Nigga, go kill yourself, but before you do that go cop RECOVERY June 22, 2010 and then after it gets scanned for an offical sale then you should off yourself ASAP!

    • Lloyd Sprayweather

note the sarcasm next time, son.

    • Lloyd Sprayweather

dude doesnt even have a single out. how could it be #1?

Ok… Here we go. Now I am the first person to give credit where it is due. But here??? I don’t see any credit earned. I don’t subscribe to conspiracy theories and such, but this is painfully obvious. Diddy paid for this cover…. Or at least, he threatened to pull his Sean John ads unless they gave it to him. Follow me on this one peeps…

    1. First…. How many hits had Diddy or Bad Boy produced in the last 4 years. Outside of production on that American Gangsta for Jay-Z (and he obviously stole the true producer’s production credit) what has Diddy done?

    2. Sean John just signed a major deal with The Macy’s Department stores. Not only is this a step down from a true quality designer brand, but what dumb ass designer is signing exclusive contracts with Macy’s and ONLY Macy’s? Hilfiger didn’t do it… Polo didn’t do it? What we are seeing here is the true bottoming of the Sean John brand. Bad Boy records took a hit. His clothing line is following suit. So…. He needed this… Just as XXL needs this. Wash my back… I’ll wash yours.

    3. By the graces of God…. I praise any man that uplifts himself. But what is the saying? “Show me a great business and I’ll show you a great crime”. Diddy has shitted on sooooo many people that he can only go payola with the mags. Quick…. Name one artist that he has touched that hasn’t imploded financially (The Lox don’t count. They hated Diddy from jump). There isn’t any artists outside of Jay-Z and his other wealthy friends that will give him love. No one will co-sign any new venture he has.

Diddy paid for this. And XXL should own up to it. But they probably won’t. Business is business. The haves and the have nots. And whatever other cliche you want to add. Diddy paid. Real talk.

But yes, Interscope lies in bed with Harris, proven fact. And Puff is an artist too, so he will get a promo budget.

I don’t see the diss, he is wearing the Jesus piece, no? But LOLZ @ the grill, make me wanna rock mine today.

Would’ve have liked a commemorative alternate Guru cover Vanessa…that’s money right there girl…

SHAME ON YOU, XXL!!!! That Diddy is on this cover IN FRONT OF GURU?!?!?!???? This is a sad day in hip-hop media. You can bet I won’t be buying this issue…whoever had the balls to make the decision to put Puff on the front of the cover after the death of hip-hop legend, Guru, should be ashamed of themselves.

  • Prototype81

    VERY DISRESPECTFUL.

XXL, you really need to step back and evaluate what your doing here. Why the fuck arent you putting GURU on the cover of this month and pushing DIddy to next month… in fact why is Diddy even getting a cover? Even when he was relevent, he didnt make your cover.

Fact is your going to put up one of the most self centered, egotistical, materialistic men in the game on the front…and pass up on GURU, one of the most spiritual and soulful people ive seen in this game.

Just for that your going to lose the respect of many. Trust. I am one of them, you will never see my name posted on this site again.

    UNBELIEVABLE.

  • P81

    @ GADDIC.

and by contributing you mean forcing people into contracts, shelving dope emcees, and ultimately playing a role in the demise of one of hip hops legends?

    yea, hes contributed alright.

ok that was the last post lol. I had to clarify that.

PUFF deserves NO PROPS. he actually deserves to disappear.

Diddy stated he was the 1st to tour Europe, Wrong, Run DMC was! He was the 1st w/ a clothing line, Wrong, Russ was! He pretty much by his own admission copied Russ’ swag. He said he was a billionaire, Wrong again! He might be right when he said he was the 1st hophop head on the cover of Forbes. I support Diddy and I’m proud of what he has accomplished but re-examine the definition of humility. Stop talking about J Lo too, real men don’t bring up their exes especially when she dumps them. Very unplaya like!!!
