With all the talk of a possible Dipset Reunion getting fans excited as of late, many were skeptical that it was just that, talk. Until this past weekend, when Cam’ron showed up in Atlanta to support his estranged friend, Jim Jones’s basketball team at the Converse Band of Ballers Tournament.
The Capo’s team, the Jones Family, took home the championship on Saturday (May 1) for the second year in a row, beating out the Shawty Lo, OJ Da Juicemean and Pill’s Southern Hospitality team, but the real news was that another Diplomats album was already in the works.
MTV was on hand at the event and spoke to the Dipset co-founders about the possibility of another group project. “We working, everything is working,” Cam said. “Right now, we’re doing a couple of songs. We’re trying to get the business together. Right now we’re just doing music.” [Watch below]
Jones is hoping they can get their respective individual obligations out of the way and deliver something for the holiday season. “Me and Cam both got our own things going on, solo projects and label situations, but we going to put this Diplomat thing together real funky,” he said. “That powerful music will be back at you. It should be a good Christmas stocking stuffer, but we’re going to heat it up like the summer.”
In the meantime Killa is working with his new protégé Vado, collectively known as The U.N. on their studio album, and has plans to drop their new DJ Drama mixtape, Boss of all Bosses 2.5 on Wednesday. Jones is currently putting together his mixtape with DJ Scream, Coke Rush Pt. 1.
