Drake: “For Anybody That Doesn’t Believe in Me, Your Favorite Rappers Do”

Drake has had an unbelievable year. Since dropping his breakout mixtape, So Far Gone, in February 2009, the Toronto-bred artist signed with Lil Wayne’s Young Money label (after a huge bidding war with every major label), scored two Grammy nominations and has been cosigned by hip-hop’s biggest stars including Jay-Z, Kanye West and Young Jeezy—all before dropping his debut LP, Thank Me Later.

Problem is, along with all the praise, comes the hate. Known for growing up in an upper middle class neighborhood in Canada, starring on popular Canadian teeny bopper show Degrassi: The Next Generation, and spending an equal amount of time singing on record as he does rhyming, Drizzy’s place in hip-hop is often critiqued by fans who worship MCs for their street cred, as well as their skills on the mic.

In XXL’s forthcoming May Issue, senior editor Benjamin Meadows-Ingram asked the up-and-coming star if he thinks about the traditional XXL audience in terms of the type of music he creates.

“Yeah,” Drake said, “but I’ve never really voluntarily made myself a member of that lifestyle. I just make good music, and that’s really what it should be all about. Because a lot of the people that the XXL audience believes in aren’t even that official anyway, as far as rugged and rough. A lot of that stuff is perceived, it’s assumed, it’s not proven. And a lot of it gets embellished throughout the course of a career. As you get more famous, you can start saying more reckless shit, and people believe you.”

As far as MC nicknamed Young Angel is concerned, it all boils down to the sounds coming out of the speakers. “It’s never been about being perceived as a rapper [for me],” he explained. “I love making music, man. I love hearing people that love my music, or witnessing my music being played, and people enjoying it. I make the music, and I love the result of what happens after that. That’s pretty much where my involvement in hip-hop stops. I just want to make the music.”

“For anybody that doesn’t believe in me, your favorite rappers do,” he added. “They call me for hooks, features and all that. Ross, Jeezy, the hardest dudes—B.G. C-Murder calls me from jail. Turk calls me from jail to tell me I’m doing great. For the people that don’t believe, the people that you do believe in got love for me. That’s all that matters.”

Stay tuned tomorrow (April 13) as we post more from Drake’s interview as well as exclusive pictures from his cover shoot.

Because a lot of the people that the XXL audience believes in aren’t even that official anyway, as far as rugged and rough. A lot of that stuff is perceived, it’s assumed, it’s not proven. And a lot of it gets embellished throughout the course of a career. As you get more famous, you can start saying more reckless shit, and people believe you.” Damn straight so hop off the dudes nuts if you don’t like good music. Its about the music, not street cred necessarily, remember that.

However, I do believe he should go solo & bounce on Young Money cause he can do it, he’s proved it already.

its so offensive the way he describes the so called “xxl crowd”… nobody cares that he grew up rich..what bothers us is that he clearly has a true and honest disdain for poor people, and for black people ( i havent forgotten about the controversy about him usin the nword– as in “nigger” (not nigga) yeah– him using the word “nigger” like that–like the way rich white jewish people do)

he shows his disdain for us with his fake rap accent, his wierd srew faces that he’s always making and he’s ridculously arrogant statements like in this interview.. kanye is cocky and arrogant like a cartoon character..drake is arrogant and hateful– i mean dude really looks down on us–BIG DIFFERENCE..

he is so blatently arrogant and hateful of non rich non white people that’s its unbelievble… he really is like a rich racist white person on so many levels…remember back when paris hilton was hangin with scott storch in that crazy rich white cokehead holywood scene they roll with and they caught her on tape calling certain black celebrities “niggers”–but then at the same time she’d be litenin to hip hop?? — you know the crowd im talking about right—then you know drake…it ws so crazy seeing that pick of him poppin bottles with his rich white friends in the club and looking just like them i mean just like them and being so comfortable…

          Craig and Daywalker,
you both got it wrong, who are you to judge anyone character, you don’t know Drake, and clearly you don’t know anything about being Jewish. Being Jewish has nothing to do with color of the skin. If your mother is Jewish then you are Jewish. If your father is Jewish, and your mother is not you are not Jewish, if your mothers father is Jewish and your is fully Jewish, you are still not Jewish. Judaism is transferred through the mom regardless of how much Jewish blood one may have.
I cannot speak for certain individuals but the idea of “Choseness” does not make Jews better, but different. Different responsibilities. Google 7 Noachide laws.

Craig your comment is complete garbage and quite antisemtic.

          peace and love

Man this dude is garbage…. Industry dickriding him is disgusting. Being Half Jew helps I guess cause there his music is disposable garbage thats forgotten quickly. He’s the new Ja Rule minus sounding like the cookie monster. How any grown ass man can ride or listen to his shit is beyond me.

yo nuejrz, keep makin excuses why your life sucks and you have resorted to complaining in the comments section of an article of the guy your obviously obsessed about. haha

    • Tx_r3y

Nuejrz u r a hater to a t, I know u a dumb fuck, ja rule acted and pot rayed something he not, music is music fool! True hip hop doesn’t encompass the street life always.

      • nujerz

Can you dispute anything that I said as false????? All of his material that has come out and gotten burn (radio/video) with the exception of Forever is geared for the ladies. If you gonna mention Succesfull that shit wack imo. He doesnt make any timeless or classic shit. Its always been bout the music with me he doesnt make music that I like nor relate as a grown ass man. I dont feel he lyrically talented compared to the MC’s I listen too. He need to switch up or he will end up like Ja Rule eventually.

    • M.B.

being half jew helps? are you kidding? you sound like a moron.

      • nujerz

The people that are pushing him in the industry that got power are Jewish. The fact that Drake Mom is Jewish does Help Drake with the higher ups at the labels. Cause its certainly not the quality of music he’s released or the lyrical talent for the cause of his buzz. Muscially and lyrically he’s nothing special.

        • turks

“Muscially and lyrically he’s nothing special.”

cosign that alllll day. i dare someone on here to tell me ONE thing that makes this ‘rapper’ better than the other rappers in the industry. J cole killssss drake on soo many different levels. so really, whats the big deal with drake? hes nothing special

      • valdez

obviously, being jew-ish (not a REAL JEW) helps. considering all of media in this country is owned by jew-ISH ppl (fake jews, who stole the religion and wealth). and again, that’s ALL media including hollywood, radio, print, etc.

that said, drake is talented, but his career is based on lies. he’s has sold his soul for success just like ALL the pther ultra popular artists (kanye, beyonce, jay, wayne, gaga, etc.) the list never ends.

  • hippaToDaHoppa

All those dudes Drake listed are wack anyway, besides they (and all other co-signers)are only fucking him to get that pre-teen white girl money.

  • AZ40

And what does that mean b/c somebody I enjoy listening to likes you(really they’re just tryin’ to get shine off your buzz) I’m supposed to follow suit, again I try to like his music but I’ll stick wit the guy he got most of his style from(Kanye)

ok heres the problem as i see it all ya’ll on this site only like people that talk bout being rich(which most a the rappers ya’ll praise arent)sellin drugs(which obviously they aint) and fuckin dimes( really most a these bitches is 6″s & 7′s if they lucky) but when some one tells there life story(i said they’res not yours)ya’ll shit on them like you all r the ones on the rag but give the lil nigga a listen and you’ll see this kid has someskill now it aint nothin spectactular like he gonna change the game but dude has his style down and no i aint white i have listened to hiphop since i was 10 (im 28) and honestly im pretty f’n happy to here some one come with something different besides some gotta take kanyes place now that hes probly done after his career suicide

    • valdez

      @ PanoramicProductions…

the so-called “lifestyle” drake represents is a big facade. listen to “successful.” he is telling the youth that success = money, cars, clothes and hoes. and they are listening very attentively. this in turn has them striving to attain “success” at all costs. and usually to their own demise.

but thing thing about it is, DRAKE KNOWS THIS!!

i don’t respect that. but then again, who the fuck am i, right??

  • The real chris

First off drake still cant rap and young jezzy cool but rick ross? drake what is wrong with u?when guys like ross get credited thats when i know hiphop is dead,

  • nibs

drake is garbage. how can you listen to someone knowing that they’re fake as fuck?

  • nibs

Drake is garbage. How can you listen to someone knowing they’re completely fake? It’s not that he has to be gangster. The problem is he’s just full of sh*t! Don’t rap gangster (and write other people’s fake gangster raps) if you’re a jewish canadian degrassi star.

    • Sincere

I really don’t understand all the hate. The kid never claimed to be a super gangster drug dealer murder death killer. He raps about money cars clothes and hoes. Do we not think he has these things? He raps about his mom and dad. Is he a test tube baby or something? Like wtf am i missing how is he fake?

“Males shouldn’t be jealous that’s a female trait.”

      • El Tico Loco

        Sincere

What makes him fake is the unmerited buzz, what is he doing that has been done before and done better; so what he sings, so does Phonte. Not only that he made a hybrid out of Kanye and Lil Wayne’s flow which has Jay Z’s DNA in it, throw in Sean Price puchline style (you know without likes)and you get a Drake. Then the bottom line may be since there’s a thin line between hating and criticism is that at the end of the day no matter what the subject matter you rap about, real hip hop fans will root for the underdog which he’s not we see a lot rappers evolve from local to global this cat came in the game global so his buzz seems manufactured.

        • Still ill Will

Yea but Phonte can’t write a HIT to save his life. Stop comparing this nigga to who he aint. He is who he is. half white boy who uses the word “Nigga” and can write decent lyrics. His shit sells….J. Cole is dope but will NEVER sell like Drake. He has sex appeal to the females NO HOMO. He has a broad audience. Middle aged white soccer moms bump him just like drug dealers in the hood. Get off his fucking nuts. Nigga have all you bloggers doing backflips. Like you cant wait to Hate on his yellow ass. All your doing is contributing to his overall Buzz…

      • M.B.

        Thank you Sincere!

Drake has said in interviews numerous times that he does not rap about, or claim to represent a lifestyle he is unfamiliar with. if you don’t like his music then turn off the radio and keep it moving.

        • savagejab

where the fuck do people get off calling this canadian kid the king already? you guys lost your mind.i herd 1 good hit from this kid but had three other top dawg rappers on it. go to the hood anywhere see who they think is king.oh forgot drake isnt in the hood hes advertising himself as a commercial rapper.not hatin on the kid but more of a ladies rapper to me.chicks dig the dude and hes gettin paid i respect that.you young a.d.d cats need to slow down the dick riding bus.this kid needs to prove himself as noted in another post.lets see if hes even around another 3-5 years before we start assuming he holds any type of hip hop titles. but i got to add i didnt like your favorite rappers rapper comment.sounds like a cocky canadian comment.

Damn striaght, Drake is handling his biz stackin that paper. all you haterz just a bunch of broke cats wishin you had the shine n opportunity he has. hip hop is not GHETTO. it is not restricted to one particular arena. True the GHETTO played a strong hand in birthing hip hop, but lets not get that sh*t twisted. boy getting a lil big headed though

    • valdez

the ghetto did not “play a strong hand in birthing hip hop,” it straight up birthed hip hop, flat out.

This reminds me of 50cent 7 to 8 years ago to where he is now (on the flipside of the coin). So the skepticism is gonna be there, and even though blogs weren’t as popular the conversations went a little like this (about 50)then too. The difference is that there’s no beef involved but the buzz is comparable, some learned their lesson others just follow the flock and keep drinking the koolaid.

This mediocre rapper has so many people hugging his nuts that any hint of criticism from hip hop heads(mostly fans of nas, AZ, rakim ect ect)gets called hate… im sorry but he’s not “Hip Hop” dude’s a pop star the sooner he calls himself that the sooner Hip hop heads will stop criticizing the B.S… the product is not matching the hype and alot of people fail to see that because they’ve been fed so much garbage for so long that they’re used to it… “hating” incorporates jealousy and bias no matter the quality of a product(good or bad) i give props when props are due…. excuse me if i prefer my Hip Hop to be less sing songy and cheesy with corny punchlines that come off as bad pick up lines from a rich jew attempting to exploit a once great but dieing culture for monetary gain… When he first came out he caught my attention but as time passed and i stuck to a strict musical diet of AZ, B.I.G, Nas, Nas, Nas a little Jay-z and Rakim i came back and listened to his stuff and was totally baffled by the idea that some people are already naming him top 10… DUDE IS AVERAGE… J-cole is better… alot of underground cats are better but hey what do i know?? im just a “hater”

    • Eric

I feel you homie, but the word ‘hater’ doesn’t need to go away, people just need to learn how to use it. Its cool to say you don’t like a song or a rapper, but when your reasons are on some personal shit, then its hating. Like, its cool to say, “I don’t like Drake because I don’t like his flow.” But its hating when people say, “Fuck Drake, that nigga soft!”

Despite many the faking, hip hop came from the street, is a product of the streets, not kids like Drake.
The streets has proven, Drake. Heck many rappers have proven. They have rap sheets, they are felons.

But i guess he knows this first hand about the people he’s around, like Wayne, Birdman and them.
I got a feeling he sees all the rough talk and sees them proved nothing. L

  • Fon Z

its funny how da word “haters” is used…

its not hating when ur being honest… the dude is HIGHLY overrated! He got some skill, wont deny that, but he has no identity, meaning he sounds like Wayne & bites off Jay very often!

Oh, and just cuz some sorry rappers like Ross, BG & Turk say ur good doesn’t mean everyone feels da same way… he’s lukewarm at best!

  • M.B.

sad, but this is “hip hop” today. I don’t hate drake – he does what he does well. just not my particular brand of hip hop, but until a new school of artists emerge that make something gritty and genuine we are going to continue getting bubblegum pop, hot-for-the-moment rappers. at the same time, who knows, maybe drake has potential to be an artist, but I’m not so sure that is where his focus is. his focus is to make pop and $. there’s no love left in music. one would think it would be the opposite considering that money isn’t made on records anymore its made on touring. where is the feeling in this music?

I actually like Drake’s music but, I have a major problem with what I’m reading here.

“For anybody that doesn’t believe in me, your favorite rappers do,”

Collaboration allows for cross-promotion between rappers based off of their work. That’s fine, because it’s based off the work, off the music. But saying someone should like you based on who you hang out with and who calls you is some played high school shit, and is actually kind of insulting.

    • http://tsolutions1@gmail.com NefariousSun

Word. real tizzle homie. Them comments are borderline insulting…As far as the music goes Drake got tight shyt… I dont know what these disgruntled niggaz talkin bout him bein wack 4. Some of yall sound like spiteful bitches after a relationships over… My guess is you guys are artist too. Shut up and grind. Or get a real job.. everybody dont need to participate in this rap shit… Some of yall need to just be listeners… Be the Micheal Jordan of your position, whatever that position might be, from McDonalds to the boardroom.

  • El Tico Loco

gender aside what’s the difference between Drake and Ke$ha?

  • Escobar9300

Drake is soft as cookie doe. If you dudes want to ride for a guy who spent his last 5-10 years on a show made for 12 year old girls, go ahead. But real hip hop heads dont beleive this dude no matter how many times Jay Z co-signs him. Wack is still wack from any angle you look at it.

  • Vansur

hahahhaha all you HATERS SHUT THE FUCK UP, YOUS BROKE AND LONELY, drake is wack? hah yous a fuckin lame, i cant STAND broke people whinning about shit, like, GO GET MONEY FAGGOT, and i aint a big fan of drake but im a huge fan of people doin there thing and getting money, and thats what hes doing.. real reconize real..money reconize money, nough said , if your a hater put a gun to your head

    • Escobar9300

      ….Drake…is that you?

I think he should leave Young Money. He’s the only one with any kind of potential. But as far as my favorite rappers go, I haven’t heard Ghostface or RZA mention you so I don’t know about that ;-) Mef maybe but other than that…none of my favorite rappers have mentioned you. :) But I rather listen to Drake than Young Money as a whole they’re horrible…

  • ff1one@yahoo.com

if you got time to read xxl, let alone comment online, how hard are you? Plus, being hood or getting street cred is not about the image. Its about respect. As noted, drake is gettin respect from people in all walks of life. U can live in the hood and not be connected. U can be from the burbs and get respect. At the end of the day, its about that good music. Drake makes great songs. I’ll be the firt to admit that i don’t give him overall number one mc creditanls based on the fact that he isn’t connected or seems to be missing a soul, but Drake is defintely talented and puttin in work. Trust, the hardest of the hardest rode to successful.

drake is cool compared to the guys out now. i’d put say j. cole or even wale over him anyday. but much success to him anyway.

btw, cosigns mean NOTHING these days. rappers are co-signing rick ross, soulja boy and waka flacka. everything is very political now. rappers will co-sign anything under the interscope umbrella.

  • balaramesh

    @Gbage ,

the rap game is horrible right now. talent is not needed to excell in the game. these days, you only need catchy hooks and beats. no more, no less.

but i have to disagree with the T.I comment. would he outshine say talib kweli, black thought or bun b on a song? maybe not. but he can hold his own if nothing else on the mic. so the dude is indeed talented.

  • Dime Magnet

But if these new school guys really suck. Won’t someone out there come out that’s that much better?

    Really.

    Makes.

    Ya.

    Think.

    Don’t it?

  • q461

First off, who says ALL hip-hop has to be a certain way??? If cats didnt represent somethin new, shit would get tired dumb quick. Example- Prior to the west coast poppin up, hip-hop was bigger in NY and Ny niggaz started hating on the west coast cats, afraid of change. Who says hip-hop can’t have a Nas, a Drake and Ice Cube? All totally diffeent artists… the variety in hip-hop is part of what makes it so great. Drake’s right it is all about the music, and like it or not, he’s got alot of talent.

Second, not for nothin, You gotta give Drake the respect of layin all the cards on the table, it reminds me of Em in the last scene of 8 mile, callin out his own weakness’s before other cats can use those hings to diss him. It’s KNOWN, and from the start, that he is Canadian, half white and jewish, played wheelchair jimmy on corny tv show, and sings as much as he rhymes. He’s not hiding who he is, unlike other cats who get their get their cards pulled fakin jax on thesmokinggun.com (no disrespect to rick ross), but to me its refreshing that a cat is telling you from the start who he is, he’s in it for the love of the musc and thats some real shit. Not to dick ryde, and theres plenty other artists I like more, but I appreciate that from Drake. He’s dope and he’s gonna be a problem just watch.

  • Dime Magnet

He’s already in the game. He shoulda already been a problem. A year plus with A list media hype. How long do you need?

  • http://www.bboycult.com $yk

What a lot of y’all don’t understand is that cats don’t hate Drake, they hate they machine always telling us what to like.

Y’all can’t tell me y’all don’t know a cat out there who is very talented and has been trying to get in the door to no avail, and yet you see this guy get the Hip Hop reigns HANDED to him.

Everybody didn’t take the red pill. And no, everybody doesn’t want to be a rapper, celebrity, entertainer. And like I said on Bol’s blog, it was them blue pill cats who showed what was really going on.

Drake’s promo machine has started, it ain’t gonna end for the next couple of years. But he ain’t no king of sh*t, you gotta prove you can wear that crown. Mufukkas is telling y’all son is king, without earning or fighting for it, not even having a certified music catalog to even debate him being the king, and y’all are accepting it. This is emphatically incorrect, similar to brainwashing.

Again for the hundredth time, good luck to Drake but he gotta earn them stripes. A drill sergeant or colonel liking or co-signing a newly recruited soldier doesn’t mean he’s gonna end up a 5 star general, he might get murked in the active line of duty, no bad wishing.

I just don’t like what youngblood said, how he downplayed who the fans like as rappers by saying they ain’t really real, then went on to say dudes in jail like him, and then said our same ‘ain’t really real’ rappers like him so we should like him.

And real n*ggaz have iPhones, Droids, and Blackberry’s so y’all can think there are nothing but nerds commenting all you want.

And so what son’s getting money and eating. I am too.

  • NMcG

    Who the fuck is DRAKE?

it doesn’t matter what a hip-hop purist thinks about him because the album is about to sell more copies than the carter 3 in this recession

you dudes are soooooo funny… From one side of your mouths you’re mad at rappers like Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, etc for rapping about shit they don’t do, in other words, for not keeping it real. From the other side of your mouth, you’re mad at someone like Drake who only raps about things he knows and his family and shit, in other words, for keeping it real.

Truth of the matter is, you dudes are mad because your favorite underground rapper can’t get any shine. Being mad at a successful rapper is like being mad at Kobe because he’s in the league and the best playground baller in your neighborhood is not.

Build a bridge and get over it. Drake is a good rapper and will have a long career because he knows how to make hit songs.

why would anyone do that people tend to like nigas who can rap

  • Anonymous

Drake is a hypocrite he says nothing was done for him, yet he comes out with the biggest pre album budget in hip-hop history. Universal places him with Young Money so he can spin off Wayne. Like 50 spun of Eminem, except nobody gave 50 a 10 million dollar mixtape budget. He’s the Manchurian M.C. This is how they sized him up and made him.

    1. He looks like Obama, our popular president
    2. From an untapped region
    3. Used to be an actor aka mainstream attitude
    4. Decent R&B songwriter w/ staff
    5. Voice sounds okay with auto tune, flow is passable.
    6. Hip-hop Lyrics good by southern crunk standards
    7. The kids will follow who they see on T.V the most. Play up he’s young – early twenties
    8. Place with a successful label camp that has a current hot trend setting star
    9. Pay for pub, lots of pub and guest appearances. Get Jay-Z.
    10. Physically he’s the tin man, but give’m a stool and say it’s cool like that.
    11. Make songs for females, traditionally a larger and more loyal record buying demographic than males. Who you think buy Black eye peas.
    12. Say that anybody who doesn’t like it is hating.

  • I♥DOGS!

so deep!!! i like Drake’s style of rap, and the stories within them, they are more relatable to some(including myself); because not everyone lives in “the hood” lol!! People think he’s soft or something, but they’re SOOO WRONGG because tattoo’s,drugs, etc. don’t make a person a good rapper; its the music they actually make!!! Anyways can’t wait for Thank Me laterrr!!!!! (JUNE 15th) OMGGGGG! ♥YMCMB and ♥DRAKEE

honestly…given the state of hip hop now(soulja boy’s, gucci mannes, and shawty lo’s of the world) is drake really all that bad. In comparrison tha nigga look like Jay-Z forreal. i would much rather have Drake representing hip hop then some yahh bitch ass nigg sing disney tunes…at least this nigga raping about real shit…shit that the average nigga go through(They never gave me support like chuck t’s/And I never trust a nigga sayin trust me /Nick cannon and will neva did it this ill /So you tell the house band don’t you dare interrupt me /Thanks to my mother for never giving up /You deserve the world, now gon’ live it up /Thanks to uncle steve my hero who always saved us /I could never give back everything you gave us) real shit…and to people saying that he aint have to work for his fame you dont realize this nigga had 2 other mixtapes…it just so happened his shit was hot…dont get mad kuz yo favorite rapper then dropped 12 mixtapes and he still eating ramen noodles and recording out of his mama basement get ya facts right b

  • ff1one@yahoo.com

opinions are like aholes. Geesh, u can’t really be suprised by the current state of hip hop. Beef, hating, outrageous opinions have been around forever. But i’m hearing some out of this world alien like hate on drake. me personaly, before i give anyone or anyting i chance i start off by hating them. I want them or it to earn my respect. since then dude has dropped several verses made some good hooks and is changing the game. I mean, he ain’t the only rapper that has been hyped or given the thrown. Forever for example, dude stood up with some vets. o ya, who was on the hook? Like lebron drake was annointed the king. Like lebron he lived up to the hype. NO neither hasn’t earned that title yet but they are doing well. Its several greg odens out there, kwame browns and etc. Drake isn’t just some gimic. He isn’t just some pawn in the game. Dude is that rare hyped emcee that backs it up.

    • bullets

Your bugging the fuck out with all that Drake makes good music but he is no mc that nigas bars are nick knack patty wack you cant legitimately compare drake to jcole or currensy just to name a few and dont even mention vado he makes good songs thats it drake is not nice “set it off set it off jada pinkett” shit like that is fucking corny! everyone is entitled to their opinion but there is a clear line drawn between mcing and rapping and drake my friend is a rapper good songs for checks nothing more if you stripp away the auto tune wash of his voice you probably couldn’t listen to him rap or sing

  • Dime Magnet

Quit Lying FAG. I’m from Toronto. He had very litte buzz. Dude had 30 ppl at his shows before weezy. He don’t back up shit. Where’s his plat album for his plat hype?

And the alien hate is normal. Its the alien dickriding thats fucked. He’s pays you don’t he?

Drakes very intelligent and I like what he said about fake ass rappers and I’ve never been immature to the point where i judge music with the seriousness of life it’s entertainment so all that being rich and not from the hood bull shit! whatever with that…Def jam was the first major hiphop label Rick rubin is a “cracker” so with me its about music. I like what Drake said but I really dont look at him as being a nice mc he makes great songs but he really is mediocre at rapping and I think he’s confused about people wanting features rappers need hooks and he’s hot right now that doesn’t solidify anything cause we all know once one sound gets over done on the hooks your out of hear Akon, nat dogg etc…..

  • TRUE STORY

drake knows what he’s talking bout cuz weezy is schooling this lil ni@@az on his roster… the more hate = more $$$$ and attention. besides dude is real catchy with his sh!t.

  • mermaids614

Black males are such hypocrites. You all are jealous of Drake because he’s biracial, and are trying to discount his talent, yet, ya’ll are the same ones drooling over the biracial chicks that make Eye Candy each month! Get mad when a brown skinned Black woman is in there. I’ve been listening to Drake since 07 and knew who he was before that, when he was just Aubrey Graham. The man does have talent. Interviews that I’ve seen him in, he appears humble. Look at all these asshole rappers that grew up with nothing walking around saying the ignorant shit they say, but that’s okay because they are full black though? I mean, regardless of how you feel, he isn’t African American, he did grow up different. If you don’t like him, fine, but don’t try to discount his talent or his personality.

  • Craignice

First off I am a white muthafucka pure (WASP) sin but as per daywalkers comments he comes correct. Drake “seems” to be egotistical that he is better than everybody else. I live in Toronto and I tell you that I dislike his music as rap died in 1990′s after NWA and Public Enemy along with artists like DAS EFX tribe called quest, especially big daddy kane, kool G rap etc… (that is my own personal opinion though nobody has to agree) I do not hate drake I dislike the fact that he is jewish because most jewish people in north america feed on the poor blacks and whites in society sending them to fight the fucking wars while they live tha rich cozy lives. If I was black I would not bastardize my gene pool with any jewish muthafucka that is fo sure.

  • SMH

Really!! LOL our education system is clearly failing us. It’s funny how only the non-jewish, non-white people on here are making racist remarks. people have been fighting over the holy land since before christianity, it’s not Jewish peoples fault that they inhabit most of it and Jewish people gave christians their prophet!! I don’t know one Jewish person (and I know a lot) who has ever said nigger or been racist. They only treat people with respect, or how they would want to be treated. This is just ignorance at it’s finest. Treat people as u would want to be treated, act racist and people will label u right back!! u live in America, a country of immigrants it makes no sense to be racist it won’t benefit u in any way. Also, u should think about enrolling in school!! just sayin’
