Pete Rock to be Honored at Upcoming “Noisemakers” Event

Straight off the heels of his Noisemakers interview with Bun B at SXSW last week, XXLMag.com has learned that Hot 97 radio personality Peter Rosenberg has already planned his next event.

Seminal 90s producer Pete Rock will be sitting down with Rosenberg on April 7 at the 92Y, located in New York City’s Tribeca neighborhood.

Rock’s recording, producing and remixing career is one of the most distinguished in rap history having collaborated with Nas, Common, Mary J. Blige, Ghostface Killah, Busta Rhymes, Public Enemy and Run-DMC, among many others.

The beatsmith—like previous Noisemakers guests DJ Premier, Q-Tip, ?uestlove, Raekwon, Talib Kweli and Bun—will be honored throughout the night as house band The Noize pays tribute to his music.

Tickets for the show are on sale now. —Elan Mancini

That’s a good look! Thanks Pete. A true innovator and statesman of the game. I wish you and CL Smooth could’ve worked things out, but I am thankful for the music you did produce with him and without him. J-Dilla, Dr. Dre, DJ Premier,Pete Rock, RZA, Marley Marl…. Forever!!!

      $yk, wuuuuuuduuuuuuuuuuuupp??????!!!!!!!!!!

The only thing about Livin’ Proof: the beats were harder and the MC’s were wacker (well, at least Melachi the Nutcracker.) Pete Rock, easily one of the top 5 producers that ever did it (personally, my #2 behind Premo.)

        Actually, more like #1b…

Sometimes it’s a toss-up between Pete Rock and DJ Premier. They both have their own lanes and I could never say one was better than the other.

Check out “The Boss” off of “Petestrumentals.”

That’s my fav Pete Rock beat…awesome.

The way he had that piano runnin’ backwards was straight gonnorhea. My favorite 2 Soul Brother No. 1 joints gotta be “For Pete’s Sake” from M&TSB (a textbook example of layering loops) and “Strange Fruit” from Soul Survior, one of the eeriest, hardest joints I ever heard.
