In the wake of the disastrous earthquake that devastated the island country of Haiti last month (Jan. 12), countless celebrities and everyday people have stepped up to help. Now, former Fugees member, Pras, has come up with a unique way to assist his homeland as well.

The PrAsperity Project, a non-profit organization founded by Pras, has produced the PrAsperity Haiti Relief Bracelet. The limited edition tiger eye beaded bracelet is being sold specifically to benefit and honor the people of Haiti.

Working in conjunction with organizations like the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund and the Salvation Army, PrAsperity is donating 30-percent of the $90 cost of each bracelet sold directly to Haiti. The money will be used to help rebuild homes, schools, hospitals, and create jobs in the Caribbean country.

Earlier this year Pras told the New York Daily News that relief was taking too long to reach the island nation.

“If these people don’t get what they need, there’s going to be a civil war,” he said. “If there was an earthquake in Manhattan and New Yorkers couldn’t get food, I guarantee you New Yorkers would act like the Haitians. It’s about survival.”

The relief bracelet is just one of the many projects the PrAsperity Project is using to expedite the relief effort. There also plans to host the PrAsponse to Haiti Benefit next Tuesday (Feb. 23), in New York City. Proceeds from the evening’s silent auction will also go to relief efforts in Haiti.
