Looks like another quiet week in hip-hop sales with no major releases coming from marquee rappers this sales cycle. With that said, Lil Wayne finds himself perched comfortably at No. 4 with an additional 89,400 units of his rock album, Rebirth. In just two weeks, the experimental album has tallied up 265,366 in sales for the soon to be incarcerated rap star.
In addition to holding a spot in the top five this week, Weezy and his YM crew just missed the top 40 with their compilation disc, We Are Young Money, which landed at No. 41. In its eight week, the album sold 19,600, bringing its total sales to 310,900.
The only other rap act to place higher this sales cycle was the seemingly unstoppable Black Eyed Peas, who crack two million records sold thanks to the 66,800 units moved this week and earned a No. 8 position on the charts. The energy never dies indeed. —Anslem Samuel
