XXcLusive: T.I. Released from Prison Today, Lawyer Confirms

The King is back. XXLMag.com has learned that T.I. was released from prison this morning (December 22) and will be admitted into a halfway house in his hometown of Atlanta, later today.

XXL spoke with Tip’s lead defense attorney in his federal gun case, Steve Sadow, who confirmed the news. “He was released this morning from his place of incarceration in Arkansas,” Sadow said. “As I understand it, he’s on his way back to the Atlanta area. He has to report to a halfway house in Atlanta sometime this evening. And he will then spend somewhere between the next two or three months in a halfway house, ending his Bureau of Prison sentence.“

According to Sadow, T.I. will have a lot more freedom under his new living conditions. “A halfway house is more along the lines of a residential dormitory,” he explained of the rap star’s new stipulations. “You live within this house that is broken into areas for living, and you are permitted to leave during the day for certain reasons of which would be employment, medical reasons, things of that nature, and you return to the halfway house in the evening. So it’s a restriction on your liberty but it’s a way for you to reenter into society and not be confined within a jail type institution 24-hours a day.”

T.I. has been serving time in Arkansas’ Forrest City Prison since May 26, for possession of unregistered machine guns and silencers, as well as firearms from a convicted felon. He is expected to be finished with his federal sentence in March of 2010. —Jesse Gissen

    Why is everybody thinking he must have given somebody up in order to get out of jail early? The reason he’s out of jail is because money talks and bull**** walks. It’s the same reason R. Kelly didn’t get convicted and MJ didn’t serve anytime. Record Labels will keep you out of jail or extensive sentences as long as you can make them dollars instead of pennies. Many other artist don’t make these deals because they are not marketable enough to warrant slipping some cash to ppl in the justice system. Long as you are an asset you need not worry as long as your crime isn’t something that the buying public despises [Rape, Domestic Abuse, Child Molestation, Murder...] and believes you did. It’s like Chris Brown, his career was virtually gone the moment the pictures of Rihanna hit the airwaves. Even 2pac didn’t get out of jail until Suge fronted that money to get him released early. Money makes the world go round and long as you are of value someone is going to look out for you as long as they think they can make a fortune in the process. It is better to spend 5 mil to grease some palms in order to make 10x to 20x that in returns. It just good business. The rules of society don’t apply to the rules of business. Keep that in mind next time you try to keep it real.

    First off I’m not in anyway saying that T.I. didn’t snitch in order to get this deal. But it just might be likely that TI simply had the money and legal team to get him out of serious time. First off prior to paper trail, TI was a platnium selling artist with top charting songs. Dude was big in the industry. So I’m sure that the music execs would have done their best to ensure TI doesn’t suffer any serious jail time so he can continue to produce successful albums. You think Bossie would’ve gotten a deal like that. People seem to forget that Snoop was convicted with a murder charge and got off that. But nobody is calling him a snitch while he was at the time one of the most successful selling artists.

    I’m just saying that if you were head of a label and had an artist that was profitable, wouldn’t you spend money to buy justice for that artist and get that money back on the next album, or just say “fuck it” and lose out on money in the future. Seriously who could he have snitched on? And how do you know if the people he named would’ve meant shit in reducing his sentence? Personally I could believe money and bribes were involved than TI naming drug dealers or what not that the Feds probably had some dirt on already.

      There’s the difference you pointed out right in that statement. Snoop fought his murder trial to the end, screaming not guilty until that verdict came in. TIP cooperated and to a plea deal of some sorts. If Snoop had plead guilty and did a year and a couple commercials Everyone woulda been called him a snitch.         Detriot I see what your saying and I didn’t rule out him cooperating with the feds in terms of trying to get a better deal. I’m just saying that There is the possibility of TI’s label in ensuring TI got out of this mess. I brought up Snoop because at the time Snoop was doing TI numbers (but with no downloading). If Snoop was caught with firearms as TI either before Doggystyle I highly doubt that he wouldn’t have been convicted even if he was innocent. My point is that if people can consider the idea that TI got out from snitching, then it can be fair to assume that TI and the label can buy a good legal team and the judge’s compliance in order to get out a serious sentence. If TI is a snitch then we might as well add Gucci and Cassidy need to be added as well because they both were found guilty of murder.

    Some of you are missing the point. These were FED charges. The feds conviction rate is like 98%, which means you’re going to jail no matter what. A typical deal with the feds is a plea deal to shave of probably half of your sentence. T.I pleaded guilty and did community service. How does that shave 29 years off a 30 year sentence??? Nobody pays off the feds and if they could people like Martha Stewart or Mike Vick wouldn’t have went down the way they did, and we all know T.I ain’t got Martha Stewart money. Plus T.I is a prior convicted felon which means he can’t own a firearm period. T.I stands for Telling Informants.

    Its alright though cause I look forward to his future music projects cause hip-hop really needs it right now.

    T.I. is one of the best rappers alive, But if any regular person was convicted of “unregistered machine guns and silencers” A regular person would probably end up with 25years locked up.
