Hometown hero Jay-Z performed “Empire State of Mind” last night (October 29) with Alicia Keys at Yankee stadium for Game 2 of the World Series. [Watch below]

Major League Baseball issued a statement that the star-studded set was originally scheduled for the first game but had to be rescheduled due to weather forecasts. There was a possibility that staging for the show, coupled with inclement weather could make the field unsafe to play on.

Last night's performance however, went off without a hitch. Cameras even caught many fans and even some players in the dugout bobbing their heads and singing along to the New York street anthem from his latest album, The Blueprint 3. Surprisingly Hov did not amend the song's controversial line, "Shit I made the Yankee hat more famous than the Yankees can."

Next, Jigga will also be performing the song with Keys at the American Music Awards, airing on ABC on November 22. -Brooklyne Gipson
