XXL Releases Michael Jackson Special Collector’s Issue

Long live the king. In the wake of the King of Pop’s untimely death, XXL Magazine recently released XXL Presents Michael Jackson— a Special Collector’s Issue paying tribute to MJ.

Split into eight chapters, the book covers Jackson’s early years with The Jackson 5, his evolution into a solo artist and his rise to superstardom. The issue also features a pictorial of the gloved one with famous friends like Elizabeth Taylor, Bill Clinton, Madonna, Brooke Shields and Diana Ross. In addition, the book offers the ultimate MJ discography complete with every single, album and video he’s ever released, a breakdown of his successful touring history and a list of every award he’s won.

The book also reports on some of Jackson’s most controversial moments, including his hair catching fire during the filming of a Pepsi commercial in 1984, his $20 million out of court settlement on alleged sexual abuse charges in 1994, his baby-dangling incident in 2002 and him winning his much publicized sexual abuse trial in 2005.

XXL Presents Michael Jackson is on newsstands nationwide now. -Bruce Moses

dats wassup XXL, i just hope ya’ll gon focus more on his accomplishments & charity work type stuff more than the ‘tabloid’ stuff. the media is yet again trying to kill his image (i think).

$ykotic said it best: (i think it was) “we will see the greed of men 10x” (or something like that).

also, ironic enough, as i type i’m wearing a MJ shirt that reads: “The King Will Never Die”, with a cool ‘drawing’ of MJ on top of it.

    • $ykotic

We will see the greed of men 10x magnified.

      You had it my dude!

I just copped a Pathfinder Armada on Monday so I’ma give the Jacksons “Victory” some heavy burn this weekend.

This issue will go in the frame next to the Time Magazine Obama.

      PEACE

You guys are mad late. I’ve had time to cop the Time MJ tribute AND the Rolling Stone tribute which both cover the same areas in the exact same way as you guys did. FAIL.

  • Oaklands Own

I feel yall about XXl publishing this cover when they wouldve never considered it had Mike been alive….

…But at the same time, he ISNT alive. And he has infuenced hiphop just as much as he influenced EVERYBODY who makes music for the masses. Eventhough the timing may be a lil funny…I appreciate the mag payin homage to the ICON.

    R.I.P. THe King.

I went to a Michael Jackson show when I was like nine. I knew he liked to touch boys. Little fraile white ones like me. My stepdad used to touch me so I wanted mike to touch me too. I dressed up like him and put wine behind my ears so he would smell me. I wanted the glove on me. He ignored me. I cried. My stepdad made it better later. Help.

I got this issue yesterday. And I must say, it’s pretty good. BUT…

I don’t know who is responsible for the editing, but there’s a pic in there of all of the children (with the exception of Jermaine), and it names all of the boys and Janet. But for some odd (maybe hateful) reason, the person who was describing the pic had the nerve to say that the other two women who were in the pic were “two unnamed women.” FYI, those two “unnamed women” were REBIE AND LETOYA. Now I would be very ignorant and call that person STUPID, AND NOT DOING HIS/HER JOB, but I’m better than that. I understand it’s all about MJ, and that u have to charge $10 for a mag about him, but don’t leave out all of the family just because no one “supposedly” cares about. Honestly, that is like REAL fucked up. If that person would get his/her facts straight, I or anyone else wouldn’t be bothering to type this message about it. Jus wanted to let yall know. PEACE AND BLESSINGS!!

  • Travis

I bought the mag yesterday and I am impressed. A solid 90% is about his musical accomplishments which is nice to see. A great read, Im surprised how long it is…120 pages+. Michael jackson has influenced hip-hop greatly working with some of the greats including LL Cool J, Biggie, R Kelly, Akon, etc. Great to see XXL finally having a MJ cover!

  • Hanna

I MUST have it. Will I be able to get it in Sweden?

  • Tammy

With all due Respect For Micheal who I have grown up with , “Over 45″. I have not read the magazine but the pictures are breath taking! Micheal is not a child molester! I feel that that it is a shame and a scandle the way parents have prostituted their children to make a buck with the hope that they could “brain wash their children to say that “The Worlds Greatest Entertainer touch them”. These parents should be placed in prison! Mr. Micheal Jackson Music will live forever and the rest of the worlds BS wil be what it is, BS and to the rest of you “FREAKS” who haven’t yet been digonosed Get some help! Who ever has molsested you is sick and guess what ? “Your are TOO”! Leave Micheal alone find your self a good ministry and join it! The only way you can be delived from your sick mind is the LORD!
To Mrs. Jackson and Family, on behalf of all the IDIOTS all of the world, THEY are sorry for being ALLOWING the DEVIL to use their sick mind and thoughts to come against such a remarkable, loving giving MAN, who has execeeded any living being!
“GOD bless you all and MAY Micheal REST IN PEACE”! IT is profound what Micheal have sung” “I like living this way, I like Loving this way”! Human Nature. “TO GOD BE THE GLORY”!

This issue about Michael Jackson, I thought, was really nicely done, and positive. I wanted to especially thank Khalid Salaam for his article “What More Can I Give”. It was short and sweet and said it all in that one page. It was really beautiful, thank you so much. I really miss Michael, took him for granted, maybe forgot about him for awhile, but never stopped loving him and all that he is/was to this world. It’s such a loss, and I am looking for solace, and found some in your article. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
