Instead of paying homage to a series of diverse, seminal acts in rap’s illustrious history, VH1 has decided to devote this year’s entire Hip-Hop Honors gala to famed label, Def Jam Recordings.

Set to take place on Tuesday, October 13 at 9 p.m, the show will commemorate Def Jam’s 25 years in the music business with segments on founders Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin as well as the labels other business ventures like Def Comedy Jam. As always a long list of today’s biggest rap stars will pay their respects to the label’s classics as well as more updated hits.

Hosted by funny man Tracy Morgan, for his third consecutive year, the 6th annual ceremony will be held in Brooklyn, New York at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

As of press time the artists scheduled to perform are unknown.
