XXcLsuive: Slaughterhouse Sign to E1 Music, Album Coming In July

XXLMag,com has learned that on July 7 hip-hop supergroup, Slaughterhouse – which conisists of Brooklyn’s own Joell Ortiz, New Jersey native Joe Budden, Los Angeles rapper Crooked I and Detroit staple Royce da 5’ 9” – will be dropping their debut CD on E1 Music, formerly known as Koch Records.

It has been confirmed that Streetrunner, DJ Khalil and The Alchemist, whose new disc is coming out on  the same day on E1 as well, will be providing beats on the album. Currently untitled, the LP will include such songs as “Not Tonight,” Microphone,” “Number 1” and “Cuckoo.”

In addition to the album, Slaughterhouse are a part of this year’s Rock the Bells lineup. The national tour will also feature Nas and Damien Marley, Big Boi from OutKast, Common, Rza, Raekwon, The Roots, KRS-One, a reunited House of Pain and Reflection Eternal and a slew of other independednt favorites. The tour is scheduled to kick off next month. – Elan Mancini

      Did you buy Professor Griff’s “Pawns in the game”? I did, & I still wouldn’t call them a “supergroup”. Buddens, Crook, Royce & JO, is the definition of a “supergroup”. Four separate talents who pool together on their own merits, bringing their individual talents & assets to the table.

    Despite all the hype for the Slaughterhouse, I am going to let loose one big yawn. Why? Because it seems anytime somebody comes up with an idea such as this it never lives up the potential generated. Does anybody remember the The Firm Album? Beats by Dre: check, Three Hot MCs [Nas, Cormega & AZ]: Check, Buzz: Double Check, Hot Single [Phone Tap]: check and the result… a disappointing affair that will live in infamy for years to come. Now yes, sometimes some artists have such incredible chemistry that it’s a solid venture [Meth & Red] but many more times these “great” ideas never make it pass the studio and the ones that do are many times just average [see: Best of Both Worlds]. You see many times you can have great chemistry on a single track but to build an album with more than just freestyles and clever wordplay you have your work cut out between not just internal chemistry but with that of the producers who are tapped to bring life to the venture. The point I am trying to make is throwing 4 independent artist together in a room and locking door doesn’t mean when they exit they’ll leave a classic in the room. If Jay, Eminem, Bun B & Snoop did a album or Nas, Common, Scarface & Kanye did one – IT DOESN’T MEAN IT WILL BE AN AUTOMATIC SUCCESS. Now, I hope they can prove me wrong but I highly doubt they will. There are to many X-factors that have not been taken into consideration that makes this nothing less than a 10 dollar gamble that I don’t want to place Either way, I would not expect bang up sales… just [hopefully] a solid XL Rating.

      I do hope they prove to be a super group. I was said in an interview (and I don’t have the link but I think it was Royce that said this) that everyone knows that the individual artist can drop a sick 16 or 32 bar rhyme. They can lyrically out muscle the competition right now. If you don’t believe go look up their music. But that isn’t what an album is right? If you just want 12 to 20 songs made up of 4 hot 16 bar or 32 bar verses that have absolutely no continuity or form than you should stick to the mix tape shit. What this group needs is an album where all four of their lyrically insane minds come together and gives the true hip hop heads something that we can sink our teeth into. Something that will make us want to rewind the track just to listen to what JO, Buddens, Crooked, or Nickel said. Am I correct? So that will be the biggest obstacle for them- coming together and creating songs, not just sick solo verses over the course of 12 to 20 songs.

I’ll cop them both, but I’m not sure if the rest of the hip hop word is going to be prepared to drop $15 for both albums the same day/month.     Congratulations to Slaughterhouse. The Maximum level of industry promo you need is E1 (Koch)
    The cult following will support as much as possible as this recession comes to a end.
    If they get a little more exposure and if hiphop wakes up they have GOLD potential.

    E-Hustle. All 4 of these dudes have shown and proven. NO Bullshit A&R’s, no gay dances or payola singles.

    Slaughterhouse is the best individual/together like Voltron groups in a long time that have real cred. A West Coast group like that would be Strong Arm Steady.

    We are talking one of the best since 2000, not trying to compare to groups over 9 years old.
    For example I love the Westside Connection but lyrically these 4 make fire songs, and you can find 5-10 of them out in the last 4 months online. Undeniable.

    Lots of little groups in each region that make a decent album. But they haven’t been reknowned to the levels of these four and done their own thing for so long PRIOR to coming together. A LOT of groups individuals never built up their brand solo prior to doing the group. If you hate on Slaughterhouse then you aren’t trying to listen to the best coming out right now. It means you want the bullshit radio feeds you.

    slaughterhouse is four good emcee’s with a lot of potential. buddens is not the best in the group and he aint at the bottom they all on the same level in different ways. buddens is crucial he will shit on lot of your favorite rappers his mental issues kept him from being the next big thing but he is problem. ortiz is a monster just bananas, crooked I is the west coast best rapper. for those that don’t know anything about royce 5’9′ he taught your favorite white boy how to rap. so that should tell you where his mindframe is at.
