XXcLusive: Talib Kweli Reveals Possible Rock The Bells Special Guest

Talib Kweli will perform alongside Hi-Tek as a reunited Reflection Eternal at this year’s Rock The Bells festival, but the Brooklyn emcee caught up with XXLmag.com to reveal the possibility of another duo appearing on stage, as well.

“There’s a possibility that Mos might be coming out on that, too,” said Kweli, intimating that Pretty Flaco could hit the stage for a few dates of the summer festival. Yet even before the tour kicks off, Black Star will reunite for a pair of shows at the Nokia Theater in Times Square on May 30.

“All of my records have outsold Black Star—my Hi-Tek record, my solo records—but the question I get more than anything is ‘When’s the new Black Star coming?’” said Kweli of the fans clamor for collaboration between him and Mos Def. “It proves to me that record sales have nothing to do with what’s in people’s hearts.”

Though there’s no news of a Black Star album in the works, Kweli has confirmed that he has at least one effort on the way. Revolutions Permitted, the follow-up to Reflection Eternal’s first album, Train of Thought, is “almost done” and due out this summer. – Devin Chanda with reporting by Clover Hope

Blackstar reunion this, Blackstar reunion that…
I wish I had a dollar for every time I heard that carrot dangled in front of us.
If I cared anymore, I would be able to afford the magic beans someone might happen to be selling should I so happen to believe it. Failure to strike while the iron was hot has made this a non-issue. All involved parties have made bad albums since, and one has gotten smart enough to see that acting money is better anyway.

Wrong and I’m a witness they performed in the only Rock the Bells concert Atlanta will ever have (in 07). I thought it was just gonna be Taleb, but outta nowhere you heard a long ass Looooooooooooooo….*he walks in the crowd goes nuts*ooooordamercy they did a few Blackstar joints and then it faded into a Mos Def set and he killed it. That was cool considering they were replacing UGK which was around the time Pimp C made his little comments.

WOw, I can only imagine any crowd that truly appreciates these two artist together or individually going absolutely ape shit at such a performance. I must see them together on stage before I leave this earth.
