UGK & Flo Rida Fly Into The Top 10, Bow Wow Not Invited

New releases by Southern acts UGK and Flo Rida debuted in the Top 10 on this week’s Billboard 200, with Bow Wow’s latest album falling short of the coveted spot.

The final album by the Underground Kingz, UGK 4 Life, lead the rap pack this go-round grabbing the no. 6 spot in their first week on the charts. The Port Arthur, TX duo officially pushed 76,420 units out of the stores – according to Nielsen’s SoundScan – very close last week’s projections.

Surpassing expectations is DJ Khaled associate Flo Rida. The muscle-bound, club friendly rapper landed at no. 8 with his sophomore album R.O.O.T.S. Fans copped 55,290 copies of the disc this week.

Bow Wow pawed his way to no. 16 with New Jack City Part II. The album, which finds the young MC entering his early 20s, sold 30,850.

Love VS. Money, R&B crooner The-Dream’s second solo disc, fell four spots this week to no. 18. After a month on the charts the CD sold 271,490, with 28,550 copies sold this week.

Five spots down is Atlanta rap giant T.I. Paper Trail continues to make numbers 27 weeks later, moving 21,760 discs this week. Tip’s overall sales numbers now sit at 1,858,060.

In it’s second week on the charts, Slim Thug’s Boss Of All Bosses fell to no. 32. Racking up an additional 16,890 units this week, the Houston MC has a total of 49,610 albums sold.

Sliding all the way to no. 40 from no. 9 is Dipset Capo Jim Jones. The Harlem rapper scanned an additional 13,700 copies of Pray IV Reign this week, bringing his two-week total to 56,690.

Next week look for Jadakiss and Mims to hit up the charts. – Elan Mancini
