Saigon To Release Two New Projects On Amalgam Digital

Saigon will finally be releasing not one, but two discs this year—the first of which through Amalgam Digital, home to current adversary, Joe Budden.

All In A Day’s Work, recorded in one 24-hour period with production entirely from Statik Selektah, will be made available exclusively online through Amalgam on March 17th. Saigon has also promised the release of the sequel to his 2004 mixtape Warning Shots. Both projects will lead up to his long delayed, Just Blaze-helmed, official debut, The Greatest Story Never Told , five years after its original intended release.

In a strange turn of events, Saigon now finds himself teaming up with the very label he dissed. On the track “Pushin’ Buddens,” he dismissed Joe for “talkin’ bout doin’ it big on Amalgam Digital.” Though rumors persisted of a détente in the feud involving a phone call between the two, both sides denied it, and their differences remain unresolved.- Devin Chanda

Is it just me, or does this whole Budden/Saigon beef REEK of a publicity stunt? How coincidental that Saigon’s new projects and Budden’s Padded Room all were announced or dropped right around the same time this beef began…

I guess I’m not much of a hip-hop head because I don’t know who this is.

    I guess not, Ton.

I see you mention the beef but not the new shit? Just today, they asked Budden for a comment and he said he sent Sai a text message congratulating him. Get on the ball, mayne…

The most overrated album/artist ever pushed.

No, Saigon is O.k. Saw him last spring here in the city as he came on before David Banner. He’s o.k., but not great. I think sometimes he tries to hard and isn’t sounding natural on the mic. It’s almost as if he hasn’t found a true identity. That’s one thing that Buddens has over Sai- he knows what kind of records sound best that is in his lane. Saigon can do a nice freestyle but it seems rehearsed as opposed to Mistah F.A.B. who every time matches it to his surroundings.
