Jim Jones Denies Cam’ron Convo, Freekey Zekey “Can’t Say Nothing”
Last week Dipset fans were excited to find out that crew founders Cam’ron and Jim Jones had spoken on the phone, possibly paving the way for a full-fledged Diplomats reunion. Ends up the news might be too good to be true.
Cam told MTV News on Friday (Feb. 28) that when he tried to call Freekey Zekey, Jones picked up the phone and the two reconnected for the first time in years. “I called [Freekey Zekey's] phone four or five days ago and Jim picked up Zeke’s phone,” he revealed. “Me and him spoke for about 10 or 15 minutes, but me and Zeke speak all the time.”
“It was cordial,” Killa said of the conversation. “[Jones] knew it was me. He said we was gonna holla – maybe we’ll put something together. But in the immediate future, I’m just doing Cam. But you never know what can happen down the line. I called Zeke’s phone and I guess Zeke gave Jim the phone to pick up. We just talked, asked about each other’s family. He said he’s on a promo tour. He’d be back soon. That was that.”
Now, in an interview with Angela Yee on her Shade 45 Lip Service radio show, Jones is refuting Cam’s claims. “I don’t know what that’s about cause everyone been telling me that and I’m the only one that don’t know about it,” he said of the alleged conversation. [Listen Here]
XXLMag.com spoke to Freekey in hopes of shedding some light on what really happened. Zekey would not say. “I’m a keep it all the way 1,000 with you that’s a crossfire between both my family members,” he said. “One said no and the other one said yes, to me that’s more than music so I can’t say nothing.” He did want fans to know his upcoming project on Big Cat/Tommy Boy called Loyalty Is Everything is hitting stores soon.
The Harlem rappers both have albums coming out in the near future. The Capo’s major label debut Pray IV Reign is expected to drop on March 24th while Crime Pays, Cam’s first studio record since 06, will hit shelves on May 19th. – Elan Mancini
