Nas Working On Joint Album With Damian Marley

While he didn’t win a Grammy award for his last album – the controversial concept disc originally titled “Nigger” – Nas is currently in the studio with Damian “Junior Gong” Marley cooking up a follow-up project.

In an interview with MTV News the Queens-bred rapper seemed very excited about his collaboration with the son to Reggae legend Bob Marley. “Right now, I’ll tell you first, I’m working on an album with Damian Marley, and we tryin’ to build some schools in Africa with this one, and trying to build empowerment,” he revealed. “We’re tryin’ to show love and stuff with this album. So, the record’s … all about really the ‘hood and Africa also as well. That’s coming out real soon.”

Esco says the CD may come out sometime in Spring but there is no official release date as of yet.
This isn’t the first time the two have teamed up. Nas appeared on “Road To Zion” off Marley’s 2005 album, Welcome To Jamrock.

In related news the rapper is preparing for the birth of his first child with his wife, singer Kelis. Nas has one daughter, Destiny, with his ex-girlfriend Carmen Bryan.– Elan Mancini

    Yall can Hate on Wayne but after watching the Grammy’s hes the only artist thats hungry and pushing hiphop !!! As well as when he says he’s gonna do something he does it. Most of these other artist just Talk Talk Talk.

    I think Nigger was hot, But Nas needs to reclaim tha crown in NY by going back to his Roots in hip hop. Premo, Pete Rock, str8 NY push all that other stuff to tha back burner and try to rescue your State Nigga Yall niggaz let Wayne steal hiphop…

    Oh yeah and Luda attempted this year I think his album was slept on. Theatre of the mind got some serious burners on it. But aside from Lupe, Nas, T.I. Jay-Z, wayne is taking hiphop… Nas jus drop one more hiphop joint. I remember when I first heard It was Written. that joint was like watching a movie through headphones. What happened Biggie took his spot, then Jay took the whole Show.lol

    Fuck that we need a Nas/Az album. That shit should have come out in 95,96 even 2002. They should just say fuck the lables and bring it out themselves and have a dope 6 song ep and sell it online for 8 dollars. That’s what would be good for hip hop.

    I’ll believe it when I see it. Artists really need to stop announcing these collabo projects until they get all the red tape out of the way and it is official. Dre & Timbaland, The New NWA, Dre & Cube, Kurupt and Cannibus, R. Kelly and Birdman, So many artists make these announcements way before they clear away through all the legal BS and not to mention it’s one thing to do a song together but an album is entirely different game to complete. Not to many artist have that chemistry that you wouldn’t mind hearing them together for 45 – 80 mins and Jay & R. Kelly fully support that statement because that dream project was just alright and NO WHERE NEAR A CLASSIC. So like I said Nas “I’ll believe it when I see it.”.
