New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne is set to appear on an upcoming special hosted by newscaster Katie Couric about the impending 51st Annual Grammy Awards, has learned.

Wayne, who had a phenomenal year with his latest album Tha Carter III being one of the biggest sellers of 2008, is set to be interviewed by Couric for a one hour CBS news special. The show will highlight many of the new and past Grammy nominees including T-Pain, Ne-Yo, John Legend and Justin Timberlake, among others.

Weezy leads this year’s Grammy nods with 8 nominations, including Album of The Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song. As XXL previously reported, the self-proclaimed “greatest rapper alive”will be performing at the awards ceremony.

Couric’s show will air on Feb 4th at 9 p.m. EST while the 51st Annual Grammy Awards will air from the Staples Center on February 8th, both on CBS. – Elan Manicini
