Jay-Z, Kanye West , T.I. & Lil Wayne Set To Perform “S.L.U.” At The Grammys

It was revealed today that hip-hop heavyweights Jay-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne and T.I. will be joining forces next month to perform their hit “Swagga Like Us” at the 51st annual Grammy Awards.

The song, which features a sample from another Grammy nominated song – M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes”- is vying for a trophy for Best Rap Performance By A Duo or Group.

It was also announced this morning that Tip will have his own spot at the event with Justin Timberlake. The duo will most likely debut their song “If I” which leaked last month.

As XXLmag.com previously reported Weezy, who leads this year’s Grammy nods with 8 nominations including Album of The Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song, will be performing his own set as well. The 51st annual Grammy Awards airs on February 8th on CBS. – Elan Mancini

Man I hope after this performance that the word ‘swag’ will be a distant memory for 2008 and no longer mentioned this year…I swear to Moses that shit been overused like a ho on the block…

While I could care less about the use of the word swag/swagger I do think that this would set a great precedent for hip-hop at the grammys! I been waitin long for a live performance or video for this song! As a fan of most of the dudes I just wanna see history made! Fuck the haters!

Can we have a collective vote to determine what word should replace SWAG in the Hip Hop community??? I’m not against the meaning of the word SWAG, I’m just against how gay the shit sounds. Here are my nominations for its replacement:

    Gust(sentence: Get off my GUST)
Vado(Bravado, hip hop shortens everything else)
Juice(word old as hell, but hey…)
    Stock(sentence: Got my STOCK up)

    What are ya’ll nominees???

    • Eric

what the hell are you talking about?

SWAG is far played out. If I have to hear another football announcer say the word swagger…I’m gonna kill someone.

Luster is the new Swag. I’ve got LUSS nigga….

I was hoping they would do SLU at the grammys I play that song all the time but ill have to check it out online after the show because i dont want to see timberfake and TI that will ruin my whole mood.

“Wack beat, toss away rhymes, swagger ? who gives a fuck. Garbage song.”

that song is garbage. jay and tip were ok. nothing to write home about. some 45 year old dude from manhattan heard about the songs lineup and added it as a “great collab”

    any slaughterhouse song > SLU

  • a.k.

yall some damn haters. the word swag is played out from time I’ll say that, but the song is aight and they doing it for hip hop. All 4 of them are hip hop heavyweights, and they at the biggest award show in music, so why not.

  • Eric

man, do you all know how retarded y’all sound arguing over slang?

anyway, i cosign with a.k. its fuckin history in the making. not long ago, hip hop wasn’t even regarded as serious at the grammy’s and now hip hop is headlining it. get off your fuckin soapboxes and just be happy we’re being recognized.
