50 Cent Explains Album Set Backs

If you think 50 Cent’s nervous about coming out during the fourth quarter, think again.

As previously reported, the Queens rapper pushed his fourth album, Before I Self Destruct, to next year. The CD wasn’t postponed because his lead single, “Get Up” isn’t generating enough buzz. To let Fif tell it, things just aren’t ideal yet.

“I’m not comfortable where I’m at right now,” Fif recently told MTV. “My song ‘Get Up’ is performing great. I’m happy with ‘Get Up.’ It moved faster than ‘I Get Money’ at radio. But I’m just looking for the opportunity to present more of my material [prior to the album's release]. It’s not the strongest effort on my album; it’s just a great start for me.”-Bruce Moses

I remember 1 time when me & 50 was smoking weed @ our LA Crip Hub it was the only time I had to check him. He said I’m a P.I.M.P. I said nigga that is a set of the Piru Jordan Down Sections. I then took my Lab Top Computer and my Granola Bar and ate it then went on the Corner w/ my Spray paint to start writing he had Lloyd Bank$ Chase me on foot as fast as he could to grab my arm as I was just starting to write his name on the Crip wall! The song “21 Questions” was really supposed to be “22 Questions” the final Question to Megan Good was gonne be,”If 2 apple dips/ would you be sex’d into the Crips” But Jimmy Ivine wouldn’t clear the lyric!

    • G-UNOT KILLA

The Lyric was, “For 2 apple dips/ will you be sex’d into the Crips” Ivine bitch ass would clear it because Gayme was hating, he wanted the lyric to be, “I love to Play Shaq Fu/ But I need u a Piru”

“I’m not comfortable where I’m at right now”. Is Fif losing his clout at Interscope? Possibly searching for another label? Is he actually getting self-conscious about his music? Is he doubting himself artistically? The answers to these questions will be displayed on his next release. This could be the make or break moment for the artist we know as 50 Cent.

point blank…album sucked he is trying to add movie dvds to sell his shit

get up is doing better than i get money?
    i get money was huge!!

    side note: scott storch sucks

  • Nate

All three of 50′s albums were great. It’s just that real hardcore music got overshadowed by trendy hipster rap. Thank Kanye, and all the fake g’s out there. New mainstream fans wanted more radio friendly stuff and that’s some of what he made on his 2nd album. His last album was a mixture of mainstream and hardcore, and the 2nd G-Unit album was a great one taking it back to his roots. The truth is that rap sales grew and peaked in 1998 because “rap” music was getting the most popular to buy. In 2008 we see the thousands of posers trying to sell garbage so 1/2 the fanbase is gone from buying ANY albums whatsoever. They only buy Kanye/Lil Wayne because it’s bubblegum crap, not really rap. 50, wants to build 2-3 buzzworthy songs before releasing but with the DVD he wants to offer a full package to prove that if you don’t buy his good product well then there isn’t much else product out there that is GOOD that you can buy as a replacement purchase.. Unless of course you go to the great underground stuff (such as Crooked I)

Or I should have jumped on the idiot blogging bandwagon and say some ignant ish like “50′s music is HOT TRASH”. Yeah, that’s believable- …

  • Vicious Seiger

Get Up was trash and 50 knows it. There is nothing wrong with going back and regrouping… long as you come back with a vengeance. I Get Money was hot but no one saw 50 push that album that hard after it’s release. I Get Money to tell the truth was the saving grace single that prevented 50 from shooting a brick. Ayo Technology was a blatant attempt at a pop single. Amusement Park was aimed at the ladies but it sounded alot like Candy Shop. 50 needs to do more songs like Baltimore Love Thing to show more than the usual super gangsta, club rocking bravado. By the way, why isn’t he utilizing M.O.P. more or Havoc or hitting Alchemist for a beat?

Aight, “refried”, it wasn’t funny the first time, so why post it 12 more times, dumbass. Its not that 5o doesn’t make respectible music its jsut u can’t be THAT gangsta forever. Even T.I. stopped the dope-boy shit, Jeezy aint used the words “white girl” in almost 12 months, and even Kanye quit talking bout his “super dope” beats as much. Artists have got to grow, and 50 just aint. Its worse cuz his subject matter is the exact opposite of his current lifestyle. I Will Kill? Yeah, ok, Fif.

    Ghost!!!

    • TheRefriedMexican

My bad duke. My computer is trippin’. But I think I fixed the glitch.

  • RL

DJ Knox-Excellent point but you don’t need me to tell you that. It’s the same formula everytime and it gets quite old.

  • lonestar state

dude is just plain garbage, maybe if released mixtape for retail ,that would sell better than his bullshit albums, how you kill mixtapes but then release bubblegum hip-pop?

  • capcobra

it ain’t about the clout or the material..fifty needs a victim…..he ain’t select his enemy yet…you know the dude don’t drop til he starts a lil hip hop beef….think about it…who curtis beefing with right now?….nobody!!!…so that means ain’t no new album til then….real simple…best thing to do is tell your favorite rapper to be on his best behavior out this motherfucker…cause curtis need some controversy in order for the album to come out.

  • iGotOnMyBackpack79

this nigga is done. he just ain’t ready to admit it. times up nigga!

  • tony grand$

Look @ the title. “Before I Self Destruct”, that alone is basically self-fullfiling prophecy. Translation, I gotta drop this album before I just fall to pieces, useless to Hip Hop, as well as myself. His “formula” is just that, a formula. Not love for creativity, not a passionate display of his artwork, not even really a nod in the direction of the hip hop movement. Hell, I don’t think I’ve ever even heard the term “hip hop” come outta his mouth unless its in some way tied in to a business venture. With all the hoopla about how he’s a hustler, it seems we’ve forgotten that @ best, he looks at his music as another avenue for making money. All he wants to prove is that he’s a block bully, & that he can make more money than everybody. Fine, check and mate then. In the beginning, fans were hungry for the nxt nigga, & that was Curtis. The super-bad guy we couldn’t get enough of. Evrybody loves the antagonist in the beginning of a story, but towards the end, all the audience wants is for the jackass to get what’s comin to him. And, as any real good hustler knows, as soon as u start to get that money, ya clock starts tickin, & its only a matter of time before…………u self destruct.

  • balaramesh

    @tony grand$,

you nailed it.however, fiddy will always do numbers just not to his commericial expectations. everyone outside of fiddy would love to his numbers especially the one’s really making great artistic music and selling far less than gold (clipse, talib, lupe, ect.)

    • tony grand$

No doubt Bala, that’s the true mentality of a hustle nigga @ work. Enough is never enough, there’s always more for the gettin. Subsequently, that greed is the main force behind every great hustlers downfall. The average hungry dude eats til he’s had enough, he’s good until that hunger returns. Hustlers don’t get full, as long as they know its more to eat they’ll pile on to their plate. To those kinds of individuals, there’s no such thing as success, its always just around the corner. But the onlookers, rubbernecks, stans & everyday admirers see that the hustle is gettin that niggas needs met. Niggas would love to be in his position. I mean, cmon, homie’s the effin man! But he got that look in his eye, like u can just hear that fool sayin to all the blokes around him, “naw mayne, we gotta get it, we need more, its never enough!”. I don’t mind a dude makin his scratch off of his craft, but Curtis is just tryin to make $, period. That’s why I call him a bully, he goes after those who threaten his success, unless they just decide to go in on him first. When other niggas seem like a problem to his sales, he’s on ‘em like a rotweiler. Do the math, it’ll add right up. But the mantra goes, “those that can, do”. But for how long is the interesting part.

  • Young 50

I cant wait til his album drop early 09 cuz im tired of the haters doubting what 50 can do I hope he goes platinum first week, but I think he will at least sell 700K if nobody major drops on the same day.

  • WATZ

Youse a fool tony grand$, good call with what you put. Its true, when 50 feels like h is going to be let on the bench, he causes commotion to get back on court, just for the adulation of the screaming masses. Why u think Jigga still wanna put out albums duke? He is another one who still cant take a final bow on stage. AG was hot put he should call it a day he may tarnish his legacy if BP3 doesnt live up to the 2nd one AT LEAST(cant see hi touchin the 1st onne) but bac to 50, he peaked at GRODT which was a classic and for a minute the G-UNIT camp looked almost invincible. They had a great 12-15 month around 2004. 50 doesnt carry the same weight any more so he may be waiting for a beef i order to show he sill is the bloc bully , though i dont think hes generates the same fear as he did, but as was said if you dont keep movin and evolves you are in trouble and if you stop you as good as going backwards and the CB4 gangster persona 50 has is soooo 3-4 years ago, everythings a cycle and we are now in the backpack/nerd/Smartdumb nigga season people!!
