Russell Simmons, Spike Lee, Vince Carter And More Come Out For HSAN’s Voting Call-To-Action In NYC
Add another successful rally to the books. The Hip-Hop Action Summit Network and The New Source Magazine joined forces to throw I Am C.H.A.N.G.E, a call-to-action to get out and vote, at club Home in New York City last night.
Hosted by The New Source's L. Londell Mc Millan and the HASN's Dr. Benjamin Chavis and Valeisha Butterfield, the event drew a slew of celebrities including Russell Simmons, LL Cool J, Bow Wow, Vince Carter, Dikembe Mutombo, Consequence, Dres formerly of Black Sheep, Melle Mel, Kevin Liles, Spike Lee, Malike Yoba, Jamie Hector and many more. Jim Jones also took the stage for a brief set featuring a rendition of his current hit, "Pop Champagne." Simmons, Bow, LL and Liles, among a few others, briefly interrupted the partying to drop a few words of wisdom.
"I wanna make sure everybody here to puts their arms around another person and encourages them to vote to help this come to fruition," Uncle L told the crowd. "I think hip-hop has been a huge part. From Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five helping to bridge the gap...And I just know. We'll accomplish our goal." -Bruce Moses
