2Pac’s Stepfather To Be Featured On BET’s “American Gangster”

The stepfather to rap icon’s 2Pac, Mutulu Shakur, will be featured on the new season of BET’s breakout hit, “American Gangster.”

The elder Shakur has spent the past 25 years in federal prison after being convicted for his part in concocting a bank truck robbery that left three dead. He was also implicated in the plot to help his sister Assata Shakur escape prison, which enabled her to receive political asylum in Cuba.

In addition to Shakur, the FBI’s Cointelpro initiative, Nicky Barnes cohort Guy Fisher, and Larry Davis will also be profiled.

BET’s “American Gangster” kicked off with a series of interview subjects ranging from Crips founder Stanley “Tookie” Williams to “Freeway” Ricky Ross.

The new season begins October 23 with an episode on Larry Davis.—Anthony Thomas

This is why it doesn’t make sense that all these people go on XXL saying Pac was trying to act hard after playing the role of Bishop in Juice. First off his Stepfather was on the FBI’s most wanted list, his Godfather Geronimo Pratt was convicted of murder, his Godmother was incarcerated for shooting a state trooper, and his mother was incarcerated while she was pregnant with him. So what did you expect Pac to really act like? And for your information 2Pacalypse Now came out a year before Juice, and featured songs like ‘Trapped’, the video where he is chased by a police car and raps behind bars, and ‘Don’t Give A Fuck’. The album was released after Pac won a few thousand dollars from a lawsuit claiming Oakland P.D. had beat him, and was spoken down on by Vice President Dan Quayle for it’s negative view of law enforcement. All these things before Juice was filmed. So all of you claiming the movie made him into his gangster image, check your history. Pac was already gangster dumb fucks, so quit hating on him.

Just wanted to spray some hater repellent right off the bat to stay sucker free from all the fools and bloggers on XXL that like to hate on dead folks.

It’s fuck up he not alive to see the first black President you know he would have love that shit R.I.P. pac .

  • http://www.pimpinpens.blogspot.com enzo

i hate to say it but pac wasn’t as real as you people think. Just because the majority of his family did some dirt on the streets and were involved in some black panther type shit doesn’t mean that it automaticly transfers to pac as well. Pac used to be on of my favorite rappers of all time until I saw a documentary about him called Thug Angel where they showed an interview with him when he was like 15 or 16 years old. He looked and acted real funny style. funny style like gay funny style. his voice and gestures were mad effeminate. i also think he let suge knight run game on him by gassing him up to start beef with biggie, which ultimately resulted in both of their deaths. Pac was never a gangster, he did a good job of portraying the illusion of being a gangster. But he never sold any drugs, and did any real dirt besides getting into disputes with police and shooting them claiming self defense. I know that 619 dude is gonna be furious after he reads my 2pac card pulling.

    • 619

Oh yeah, I’m so super duper furious…HAHAHA! Pac was fucking Jada Pinkett when he was 15, 16, so your gay comment don’t make sense and no you didn’t pull anybodies card. Yeah, don’t act like you haven’t seen that part of those documentaries. Jada was saying something like “Pac was so incredible, we we’re more then friends, we we’re like soul mates, I love Pac so much…blah, blah, blah…slurp, juggling nuts”! You know Will Smith was as pissed as Quincy Jones when Pac was fucking his daughter. And as far as Pac and Big’s deaths being related, Pac’s death had nothing to do with the beef. Both of them died in the West, both of them were killed by somebody from L.A. People tried to tell Big not to come out here, so it is what it is. Pac was killed by a Crip from L.A. over personal shit.

damn dogg what you go to 2pacollege

        • 619

Damn, I never seen as many Pac haters as XXL got.

  • http://www.pimpinpens.blogspot.com enzo

i still got love for pac, he is a legend, and he could really spit some ill darts and drop mad jewelz of wisdom. But he was an actor nonetheless, and he mastered the art of imitation. He is a case of life imitating art. Bottom line is this: the more years he spent in the rap game, the more cold and gangster his style became, until he became to reckless, and got himself killed. RIP Pac

  • http://xxlmag snakeyes

enzo, you must learn your history before you put a comment up here. Pac and Biggie had beef the moment Pac was shot while going into that studio in NY that fateful night. That was two years before he met Suge Knight. R.I.P PAC G.O.A.T.

  • http://www.pimpinpens.blogspot.com enzo

    to snakeyes comment:

I am acutely aware of the events that unfolded in the NY studio where Pac got ambushed the first time. Pac was paranoid and in a state of post-traumatic stress physchosis which had a adverse effect on his ability to distinguish between reality and fantasy. I read the interview where he accused biggie and puffy of looking suspect, however I don’t think puffy and biggie were that threatened by pac to the extent where they would have to hire assasins to take him out.

  • http://verizon SW PHILLY

I like both B.I.G and Pac’s music equally, but I do have one question. At the time that Pac got shot in N.Y and accused B.I.G of settin’ him up, what did Biggie actually have to gain by robbin’ or possibly havin’ him killed. Pac already was movin up in the rap game by then, Big was still tryin to make a name for himself.Just a thought

  • http://xxl gside

SW Philly that’s a hell’ave question not a dam thing but hate . Both were too talent to be jealous but it seem like Pac was nobody knew who BIg was unless you were an insider at the time I was lock up when he got shot the first time and wasn’t Red head kingpin that call him to the studio why he never put his name on wax because he could make no money dissing him.

  • http://verizon.net SW PHILLY

To gside: It was actually “Lil Shawn”(somebody from Special Ed’s crew),that called him into the studio to do a song on a mixtape I think.Remember Special Ed had a cameo in “Juice”? I only know about lil Shawn because he had a song on Special Ed’s “Legal” tape the song was 5 Men and a Mic.

  • Trickdd

Actually Biggie went and seen Pac in the hospital after he got shot the first time and for the guy hating on Pac saying he sounds gay is a retard his mom raised him what do you expect he was only 14 in the interview its called 2pac was real he didn’t have to act people like you got Pac fuck up

  • i am legend

Pac was the greatest a major loss very talented his legacy left an impact on the game he went out due 2 some senseless gangbanging the money and fame took over him it made him feel like he was untouchable he thought he could do whatever he wanted and there were going 2 b no repercussions. Thug in peace.

  • Tha Ace

@ 619……..i do think his thug persona was an act, but i don’t think he started it after juice. Before i even start, he is far and away my favorite rapper and people think i’m obsessed with the dude. He acted like people wanted to see him act, when he was 17 or 18 he was all into the arts and shit and never got into ANY trouble until after he got his record deal.

    • 619

Actually he didn’t get into any trouble until he got to Oakland. California turned him out.

  • Maurice L Dees

619 you hit the hammer on the nail the truth all way out shine evil and lies and the knowledge of 2pac family was so real and jada pinkett comment watch out for will smith.
