Former Young Money artist Curren$y has released his latest mixtape, Super Techmo Bowl, online today via OnSmash. The New Orleans MC has been releasing material on his own since parting ways with Lil Wayne in December of last year. On his MySpace blog the rapper wrote about his YM departure at the time : "If [my exit] loses me friends or fans, that's just something I will have to live with," he said. Nate Dogg appeared in court yesterday via a wheelchair (he's still recovering from his stroke) and plead not guilty to charges stemming from an incident last month with his estranged wife. The former Death Row-affiliated crooner was charged with making criminal threats, stalking, and driving with a suspended license after the two engaged in a car chase in Los Angeles. Nate Dogg was released on $100,000 bail and is due back in court August 1.[E!]

Controversial journalist Chuck Philips was among many employees of the Los Angeles Times to be bought out or let go by the company yesterday. Philips, a Pulitzer-winning scribe, has made ripples in the hip-hop world for his articles alleging Biggie ordered the hit on 2Pac be done with his own gun and that Diddy and Jimmy Henchman set up 'Pac's shooting at Quad Studios in New York in 1994. Philips and the newspaper apologized and ran a retracing when his Diddy/Henchman accusation turned out to be reached from an invalid source. [Variety]---XXL staff
