Controversial journalist Chuck Philips was among many employees of the Los Angeles Times to be bought out or let go by the company yesterday. Philips, a Pulitzer-winning scribe, has made ripples in the hip-hop world for his articles alleging Biggie ordered the hit on 2Pac be done with his own gun and that Diddy and Jimmy Henchman set up ‘Pac’s shooting at Quad Studios in New York in 1994. Philips and the newspaper apologized and ran a retracing when his Diddy/Henchman accusation turned out to be reached from an invalid source. [Variety]XXL staff
