T.I. Pleads Guilty to Weapons Charges, Plea Details Emerge

As expected, T.I. pleaded guilty to three federal weapons charges in a federal courtroom in Atlanta earlier this afternoon. According to the Associated Press, the rapper stood before the judge in a gray suit and accepted responsibility for the charges of possession of an unregistered firearm, possession of machine guns and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Under the terms of his plea agreement, he will serve one year in prison and will be required to complete 1500 hours of community service, which will consist of him speaking to youth groups about the pitfalls of guns, gangs and drugs. He will only be sentenced to the prison time after he has successfully completed 1000 hours of the community service over the course of a year. Following his year long prison term, Tip will still be subject to three years of supervised release, which will include one year of home detention, plus a $100,000 fine. Should he fail to adhere to the terms of the deal, he will face a much more severe prison term. Had T.I. maintained his innocence and been convicted at trial, he would have faced a ten year sentence and $250,000 fine on each count. In a statement released after the plea by the U.S. Attorney’s office, prosecutors expressed satisfaction over the outcome of the case and noted the value of having a high profile entertainer like T.I. working to help reduce crime.

In florida, you can goto jail for 5 years for even being in a car with SOMEONE ELSE who has a gun. I know fool, I knew someone facing a 5 year minimum mandatory on X Traffic and rolled and got 3 years probation and had the best lawyer in florida Mark NeJames as his attorney. I also had a friend who had the same damn charges, and lawyer and did 3 years behind it because he didnt say shit.

        You dont just walk away from charges with that much evidence against you, they had this guy red handed dead to rights and he gets a year when ever other oridinary brother INCLUDING YOU woulda been up the road for LIFE.

      He Has to do 1500 hours of going to schools, youth Hostels and community Rec centers to spread the word of how guns, Gangs & Drugs are the evils of society plus he has to do the full year none of this 2 thirds $#!T or time off for good behavior, str8 up 365 days on lock down. Then when he gets out he has intensive parole for 3 years, He can’t go anywhere without permission, he has to report to a P.O. twice a month and piss in a cup when ever they ask him to, he can’t go in bars or licensed restaurants or even a sip of champaign on new years. He didn’t have to snitch for that deal, he just had to pony up a shit load of cash and agree to stop living like a King for 5 years(1 year doing the community service, One year in the clink & 3 year on serious parole) fuck man if he’d taken the years he would’a been fast tracked and done in like 4 years if he got the time off for behavior. Should Taken the years. $#!t I’da taken the years! So even though I don’t know for sure who’s a snitch and who aint but I do know you don’t have to snitch to get that deal. Any way it’s all public record now so if he did it’ll be in the court transcripts and it will come out.

    Another thing I will say.. At the end of the day if you were in his shoes you would take the deal too. He didn’t snitch on anybody but himself. He was caught red handed making a gun deal. Nuff said. The Feds don’t care about him, you, me. All they care about is making examples out of people. Look at the raise and fall of alot of Artist. There was no way I could see T.I spending 10 to 15 years behind bars. As far as him being in this situation to begin with is his fault and the society we live in. How come he felt he needed that kind of protection? Was he just someone who had to have it, only he knows the truth. Overall, I am very pleased. Organizing for the Youth is a positive suggestion and over due!!!
