Jay-Z to Headline Canada’s Pemberton Festival
Jay-Z has been tapped to headline the first ever Pemberton Festival in British Columbia this July. According to Billboard, Hov will co-headline the event along with Coldplay, Nine Inch Nails, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The festival will take place in Pemberton, B.C. which is about two hours from Vancouver by car and is near the famous Whistler ski resort. The three day event will feature a festival village, camping facilities, an RV Park, and over 50 bands performing on two stages. Tickets go on sale on Friday March 28 and the festival runs from July 25-27.
In related news, ticket sales for the annual Glastonbury Festival in the U.K. are reportedly way down this year. In February, festival organizers announced that were “breaking with tradition” and had booked Jay-Z to headline the typically rock heavy event. The announcement was met with mixed reactions from festival regulars who wondered why a rapper would be tapped to headline a rock festival. Head organizer Michael Eavis recently implied that the low ticket sales have something to do with Jay’s appearance. “There’s not as many as last year because we haven’t got the super, big, big, big sort of headlining act anymore,” he told the BBC. “We’ve gone for something middle range although Jay-Z is huge in America.”
