Sean “Diddy” Combs has reportedly settled a lawsuit brought by a man who claims the mogul punched him in the face following a 2007 Oscar Awards after-party in Hollywood. According to website TMZ.com, on Monday (March 24) attorneys for Diddy filed papers in Los Angeles court indicating that the Bad Boy head and the plaintiff, Gerard Rechnitzer, had settled the case. The terms of the settlement were not disclosed and calls to both sides by the Associated Press were not returned. In his suit, Rechnitzer claimed that he was on his way out of a party at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood when he stopped to use the restroom. As he exited, he saw his fiancé surrounded by a group of about six men that included Combs. According to the papers filed on Friday, Diddy said to the man, “What the fuck you looking at dude? I’ll smack flames out of your ass!” At that point, Rechnitzer says, Diddy punched him in the jaw, sending him flying backwards. Last month, Diddy filed a declaration with the court explaining his version of the events. In those papers, Combs claimed that the plaintiff lunged at him and that “any contact between Mr.Rechnitzer and myself was caused by his forward motion against my stationary open hand.”
