What started out as a brawl quickly escalated into an all out riot at a performance by dead prez at Evergreen State College in Olympia, Wa. on Thursday night (February 14). According to local station KIRO 7, the fight started in the crowd at around 1:30 a.m. and a campus police officer tried to arrest on of the participants. As the female officer tried to remove the person from the venue, she was surrounded concertgoers. As the officer was removing the suspect from the building, dead prez started performing their song “Fuck The Police,” and the crowd became more aggressive. Eventually a large group surrounded the officer’s car and demanded that the person be released. The campus officer then radioed the local Thurston County Police for backup. When they arrived, they helped the female officer out of the car and released the man. But when one of the deputy’s cars would not start, things became violent. The crowd overturned the police car, broke the windows and started throwing rocks at the officers.
