Remy Ma’s trial on assault and related charges for allegedly shooting her friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the stomach last July is set to begin next week. According to the Associated Press, the state Supreme Court justice overseeing the proceedings has set March 6 as the date to begin jury selection in the case. The Bronx MC stands accused of shooting Barnes-Joseph during an argument over $2000. She was initially charged with attempted murder, but prosecutors reduced the charge when they discovered that the weapon fired accidentally. She was later indicted on witness tampering charges after she allegedly ordered a group of men to assault the boyfriend of a potential witness. She has pleaded not guilty to all charges. Remy faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
