Kid Sister Inks Deal with Downtown Records

Chicago native Kid Sister has officially inked a deal with independent label Downtown Records, home to Brooklyn MC Mos Def and duo Gnarls Barkley. The female MC has enjoyed a considerable buzz over the past few months with the release of her Kanye West assisted single “Pro Nails” and a string of high-profile performances at festivals such as Lollapalooza and Coachella. Her debut album, KoKo B. Ware is scheduled for release this summer through Downtown. “Their roster is impeccable and the attitude at the company is so relaxed and cool,” Kid Sister said of her new recording home. “I don’t wanna call them an indie and definitely won’t call them a major but still they’ve got some serious muscle. They’re just that rare, perfect fit you always dream about…like a fancy pair of jeans!” The femcee is scheduled to make an appearance tomorrow (February 28) on MTV’s TRL as part of their “Spankin’ New Ladies Week.”

i have been hearing about kid sister from kanye and lupe for a while and she got some skills.

she gotta real club feel to what she sounds like.

i see that she has a lot of support in the CHI and across the nation.

she been doing world tours with her man, a trak, who also did “superstar”.

she put in her work and got on a great label that i wish i could get on, myself.

Kid Sister is a great look for hip-hop although I hear her sound is considered to be “Ghetto House” music or “Juke” music; a direct influence of house music & basically, booty-bouncin’ music. Still and all, hip-hop has always been about setting a new tone, creating a new lane, & ultimately freakin’ it @ whatever style you’re trying to flex. Besides all her talent, she is a super-fox that any man would put in his top 10 beauties list. Her flow is not to be overshadowed. I predict that, as time goes on, Kid Sis’ will be one of the bigger names in the music industry; her song “Pro Nails” is taking off like nobody’s business.
